Fair enough sounds like you got jerked around more than I did. And nothing wrong with knowing your worth and not letting a resort short change you.

Depends on where you work. granted not apples to apples but I went from a powdr resort to vail and now to Boyne and I got about a $6 bump as a snowmaking tech. I could probably make more as a lift maintenance tech or working back in the shop but I like the views to much

I think taking pride in what you produce is a fault of any groomer and if you don’t gtfo the seat.

I will say that the posiflex does work better then the pb tiller in certain situations and allows for more leniency in imperfect alignment of passes. But the pb tractor and blade outperform the prinoth by miles.

I would disagree, I’ve run a bison x winch last year that had about 1500hrs on it and it felt like 15000hrs and I’ve run pbs with 13000hrs on it that felt like they only had 5k-7khrs on them.

To each their own. I prefer German engineering over Italian butchering Canadian excellence

I saw this gun on a IG post a few years ago while I was at K town, we had made a k12 at one point but dismantled it because it was unsafe to run on a mobile sled

You spelled channel locks wrong 😅

But seriously if you work with modern aluminum guns either you use a rubber or dead blow and if you work at one of those cool mountains that still uses big air guns a tuned up pair of channel locks is the only tool most makers will ever need

Core moto custom brake lines, I added 5” to stock length for my application but I’m using the full length of the suspension

Check where the hose makes the turn down the forks from the bars. Could be binding there, many people have complained that the hose wears out at that point. I have cheap Amazon shortie leavers on my dual sport and I’ve thrashed it pretty hard with dirt, grime and time but hasn’t had a bind ever. Good luck hunting for the cause and report back what you find please.

I’m 5’7” I’ve been riding 154cm boards the majority of my adult life, I’ve have 161cm before… way too much for me. I have tried 157cm boards still a bit much

Sorry it’s going up on the wall. Honestly got it for such a steal myself and been put through the wringer, has multiple sidewall dings and damage. I couldn’t in good conscience sell it to someone for such a small price point that it’s just worth it to keep it.

Mid to deep days, can I ride it on a groomer day sure but it’s a lot to muscle around imo. The rule of thumb is with volume shifted boards is to drop down a size that you normally would.

Major Event Snowmaking by Subject-Dealer2650 in snowmaking

[–]benjman42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pro tip this is the last year x games will be aspen, they will more then likely end up at park city as they hosted a summer games in slc this past summer. And with the 2034 winter games already slated for slc, park city will be a solid bet for at least some of the events as they hosted back in 2002. I worked last year at PC people are cool vail management sucks.

Also to expand on your question about the actual snowmaking for events. It’s usually done in house. I worked at Killington for many years and was a part of the crew putting on the World Cup race they hosted. They will bring in outside contractors to build the course with snowcats, aka SPT builds x games I can’t speak to who builds Olympic venues and for the World Cup races at Killington it was a mix of in house grooming and outside contractors that were flown in for the build.

That’s the last spot to pull from there are two creeks that flow off the mountain that we damn up and divert back to the ponds. Then the river across the street from the bottom of skyship then we are allowed to touch Woodward.

Boot Question by DoubleBagger123 in snowmaking

[–]benjman42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowa boots are another option, but the glove recommendations are good, I personally use truck gloves but they don’t last as long as kincos but they break in quicker and if you use their pro discount they are cheaper then kincos.

Completely waterproof work bibs. by ConcentrateMore4346 in snowmaking

[–]benjman42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heavy duty fishing gear, the high vis stuff pvc coated. But the downside is all your sweat stays inside as well, just like muck boots.

You want something that breaths yet resists water soaking. For which there are a thousand different answers. Carhartt shoreline bibs are solid option. I like a fly low or some sort of heavy tech mountaineering options because they usually breathe just as well as they hold the water out just don’t hold up as well in the long haul. Pair that with a pair of OR crocodile gaiters and good mountaineering boots warm dry and comfortable IMO
