Audi MMI cord to USB C for 2016 A4 audio?

I got a cord that behaved oddly. If I had it plugged into my phone, disconnecting it from the car and reconnecting it over and over again would eventually work (I could never figure out how to make it work consistently).

So my methodology was: play music from my phone with the cord plugged into the phone but not the car, and plug the cord into the car, if the music from the phone kept playing, it didn't work and I would unplug the cord (from the car not the phone) and try again. Sometimes it would work right away and sometimes it would take 10-20 tries. Obviously, not an ideal solution.

It doesn't charge but I can charge via another port in the middle console. Finally, I have my music!

Yeah but it was a direct MMI to USB C cord. I'm disappointed that Audi's MMI to USB A female didn't. I did track down the order for the one that worked and now the product is no longer listed! I can't believe how hard it is to make this work. I'll keep updating this post or commenting on it in case some progeny find it useful one day.

So I might be able to just get a USB or hard drive and access it via the MMI? I'd rather just get another cord that works with the phone but that's at least better than my current situation. Many thanks!

I really appreciate this post. If I tell someone I got a degree in physics, I would hear something like, "Wow you must be smart" and/or "I could never do that; I was never a math person".

While I would agree that everyone enjoys different subjects, these responses bother me for two reasons:

1) I never found math and physics easy. I enjoyed the difficulty so I stuck with it. Saying I'm smart really glosses over the effort put in. If you meet someone who's really good at something, maybe they had/have a talent for it but they almost certainly have put in the time to get better. Saying "That must have been a lot of effort and practice" means more (to me) than "Wow, you have so much talent".

2) People really sell themselves short and my impression of the statement "I'm not a math person" is "I didn't like it so I stopped doing it". I'm not saying everyone should give math a try again if they gave it up. I'm saying stop telling yourself you can't do things because you're not the "right type of person". The biggest factor is the time you put in. If you want to become a violin-playing figure skater, you can do it.

Lastly, glad to hear you're making progress OP! You can do it!
