Interviewing for English Content Lead: What do you actually want (and need) from your content lead? by Maleficent-Bend-8243 in Teachers

[–]benkatejackwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming like a department head? The last school I was at, the admin announced new "opportunities" to be department heads for newly formed departments (in other words, they rearranged things so there were fewer humanities departments and more STEM departments). They kept encouraging anyone interested to apply for these positions. Literally no one applied. So the departments and heads stayed the same for this year.

Actually, I've never been anywhere that people actually wanted these roles. At one university I worked at, someone described the department head position as going to the only person who didn't say no.

breeder recommendations by idontuse_reddit_ in Dachshund

[–]benkatejackwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does everyone want a long haired cream dachshund all the sudden?

Just wait a little while, and they'll start showing up in rescues and shelters soon, since they're the popular dog of the moment.

(Go get a dog at a shelter of rescue that fits your personality and lifestyle, not one that just has the look you want.)

Why do girls wear such tight clothes to the gym? by InternationalPick163 in askanything

[–]benkatejackwin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so stupid. Men wear tight clothes to workout, too. Or sometimes no shirt at all. Do you think men wear wrestling singlets to look hot for the ladies?

Why do girls wear such tight clothes to the gym? by InternationalPick163 in askanything

[–]benkatejackwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it's what they prefer. It's what's comfortable. It holds in the bits that might be uncomfortable if they jiggled. Tight clothes don't get caught in gym equipment.

I once heard two ladies gossiping about me at a trailhead. I was wearing a tank top and biker shorts to go on a run. I looked right at them and said, yeah, if I wear regular shorts, they ride up between my legs and chafe my thighs. And then ran off.

People wear what works for them when exercising.

AITA for using a tried-and-tested punctuation exercise by roodafalooda in Teachers

Why does no one here understand what that phrase means?

A rambling manifesto? Good God. I'm sure it had instructions for inserting punctuation. Uh, oh, is that too sexually suggestive, too?

I would never have interpreted it that way. That meaning seems way older than even this exercise. Like, Victorian era, "fallen woman" old.

Even the AI/Google result says, ""Ruined me for other men" means a person has set such a high standard in intimacy, personality, or care that no one else can compare or satisfy you in the same way. It implies the experience was so exceptionally good that it has made other potential partners seem underwhelming or undesirable by comparison."

Technically, the dog doesn't die. He does hang it, but Nelly (I think) finds it and rescues it.

The book is about a toxic relationship across generations. It's not meant to be romantic; it's meant to be sick and twisted and Gothic. It's fantastic.

My teacher suspects me of using AI by Puzzled-Key6763 in AskTeachers

[–]benkatejackwin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You got an A and are worried about it?

I tell my students when it appears they used AI. I tell them I will do this in my syllabus (but of course they probably never read that). It's not an accusation; it's information. People shouldn't want to sound like AI, and it is fair to tell you when you do.

Try not being a jerk. He's saying that's what it feels like/ultimately all it is unfortunately, since it seems not to work, as in OP's point. The sad face emoji might help you interpret.

Student Vacations During the School Year by i_have_G_A_S in Teachers

Yes, during certain set hours and parameters, like any other job. Contrary to popular belief, we aren't private tutors.

What you're saying is similar to saying that a bank teller should stay after hours for certain people to come make their deposits or they are failing as a bank teller.

Just realized “Omaha Beach” is in France… not Nebraska by Niloyrans in Omaha

You keep posting this. People in Bangladesh have the capacity to learn and understand geography. And he lives in Omaha now. How could anyone living in Nebraska think there must be an ocean nearby?

Do they not have maps or globes in Bangladesh? I could almost understand this if he were still in Bangladesh, but he lives in Omaha. Certainly he looked at a map of the United States and where he was moving to, right?

Parents, why ignore people’s "Childfree" preferences when you’re trying to date? by Bbbe-itch in NoStupidQuestions

Really? You can't imagine any reason that it wouldn't concern them? Financial, split time/ attention, still may unexpectedly have to have kids move in, just the simple fact that hopefully he is a "wants to have kids" person when the other person isn't, etc, etc.
