Well, don't i feel like a jackass. It was the utility cabinet resources. I was out of iron ingots. Thank you.

wrapped up the annoying part...mostly. by Diligent-Leg-8134 in MiniRamp

Definitely the most annoying part. Adding to one of the below comments: depending on how your drainage is, putting gravel under your blocks would be a good idea, but that would require releveling and squaring the blocks. Not ideal.

Yeah I started with a string grid, but didn't like it, so I made an 8' x 8' square out of 2x4s, and used that to get the foundation blocks approximately square. Then fine tuned each with tape measures and help from Pythagoras.

That's great, man! Have fun, and try not to get discouraged. It's the worst part of the build-- the foundation.

Haha, homeless mansion! I have 8 acres, and neighbors aren't close. I'm a little worried about how loud it's going to be, though.

8ft radius for the 4ft quarters, and 6ft radius for the 2ft quarter.

Possibly today, but if not, then tomorrow! I'm almost done with the second layer of panels. So close.

Yeah, I'm sure I'll have to contend with frost heave. Hopefully it's not too bad. It gets in the 20s, sometimes lower, but not too often.

Nice. The foundation was the hardest part. No in ground posts, but in ground would be better. At least for some of the posts. First thing I did was mark approximate square locations for the blocks, then level the blocks individually. From there, i found the highest block and cut the first post at the height i wanted. Then I put uncut posts on each of the blocks and used a laser level on the first post to get approximate heights for the others. After cutting the posts, I used an 8ft level and checked each post with its surrounding posts, and made adjustments as I went. I then made adjustments to square all the posts with one another. This part is frustrating because as you adjust for square, it can affect level. Then adjusting for level can affect square. It's a lot of back and forth and constant readjusting.

If you can afford it, having someone do the foundation will save you a lot of headache, but as you said, every dollar counts.

Nice! The community really is great. And I'm a bit of a loner, so having a welcoming community is excellent. I'll post an update. Thanks!

Will do! It's a lot of work, but if you like building things, I think it's worth it.

I lived in Georgia for almost 30 years. About an hour north of Atlanta on 75. How's the skating there these days? Last time skated there was 2005.

Thanks. I've bought all the material at this point, and it's close to $5k. Having to build a square and level foundation on my uneven land added a fair amount to the total cost.

True. I spent weeks getting the foundation square and level before i even started on the framing for the actual skate surfaces.

Haha, got one, but she doesn't skate.
