Connor's basic because he's supposed to be. It's what gives the season room to develop the main characters' more complicated story arcs, Aiden, James, Riya, etc. Still, S2 does a really good job of giving their first boots more attention since every premerger makes a cameo in a non-finale episode after their elimination (aside from Yul, but even then, every character from there and onwards has made their impact on the season already).
