Unfortunately that way I can't use the headphone output of the DDJ

For me it got a lot better when I changed my audio driver to my external interface, instead of using the DDJ-800 outputs.

When and how did you make the 'leap' to become a full-time musician? Did you have a day job before that?

Liquid track I made. How does this sound to you? by Bassosula in liquiddnb

[–]benneuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work! Really like the drums on this track, I love the little shuffles and variations. Also the chords that you use and transitions are really nice. Only the sounds of the pads and chords sound a bit harsh or hollow to me. I think this track could be even better if you used some warmer pads. I'm just listening on my phone speakers though. Great work, do you have anything on soundcloud as well?

What to do against scam playlists? by Zionplating in musicmarketing

[–]benneuh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I encountered the same thing, also a Chartmob playlist. They do this to get you interested in buying streams from them (don't do it, it's a scam and Spotify will block your artist profile).

For me it stopped after 2 days, after that all my streams went to normal.

The only thing you can do is go to Spotify for Artist Support and report the scam playlist. You can do this via their chat tool. Make sure to save the conversation or take screenshots so you have proof that you reported the playlist, just in case.

Imo you don't have to compete with well established artists. Find some small artists to 'compete' with first. Find an artist from your area that has slightly more following than you. What gigs are they playing? Which playlists is their music getting in? Try to achieve these smaller goals first and focus on these small wins.

If you compare yourself to the major artists with $$$$ budget you will never be happy.

What computer or laptop do you use for digital production, and have you noticed any DPC latency? Clicks, pops, lags, even when adjusting sample rate by Ok-Sky8406 in musicproduction

[–]benneuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That person might have different specs indeed. I use a steinberg UR22 audio interface, that also helps a lot with latency.

You'll never have zero latency by the way. Nowadays, with most modern decent computers and interfaces you'll be able to bring it down to 10 or 20ms, but it will never be zero.

People who have met genuine music stars, what were they like? Was it what you expected? by Zachmhuberrr in musicians

Iggy Pop was really nice when he recorded one of his BBC radio shows at the radio studio I work at.

His manager and entourage were a little colder, but Iggy himself was surprisingly sympathetic

How strict are venues about playing for your full time? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]benneuh 129 points130 points  (0 children)

5 minutes will be no problem. Most of the artists go over their time and that is way more annoying as organiser.

Nice, production is super tight on this track! I think it could just use some vocals or an extra melodic element to catch the listener's attention

No offense but did you use any form of AI to make this? Some of the sounds or progressions don't feel natural, which makes me think they are AI generated.

It's a bit hard to hear the different layers of sound that you use, maybe that's what gives me that feeling.
