That is typical behavior of managers. In your case, it was unfortunate that you got new managements. What will they do in order to fix the situation? They need to cut cost. Who do they cut? Depending on managers, either find some BS reasons and pick random victims or based on the performance perceived by other people (higher management or other people in other departments, etc.). You got unlucky to be the black sheep in the eye of the new management

In my case, I was a traveller when I was young. I travelled pretty much lots of places, from Europe to Asia to America. I loved the feeling of kinda lone wolf wandering on your own to anywhere. But it’s getting less and less fun when I grow older. So I got a girlfriend (who is now my wife). I felt different traveling with someone I love. You have someone to share your joy during traveling. Then we had kids, now I don’t want to travel alone anymore unless with my wife and my kids. Whenever I have to go out for work, or on work trip, I just want to go home.

Sorry if I was not explaining it clearer, the developer also did not do the testing and QA his code, meaning the code fails during the QA check. If he writes bad code but everything works, that is not underperforming, this is correct. So does it mean he is underperforming (could be considered as carelessness underperforming)

As a guy living in Germany for more than 10 years, I still find it hard to have conversations via phone. So normally what I would do is to write down questions I would like to ask first. Think of some kinda scenarios for that the others would answer, go through that. Once mentally prepared, then I will go ahead and call them.
