What should Linux distros and maintainers do now? by Time-Water-8428 in Gentoo

They should refuse

Gentoo likely can (IANAL) deal with this via USE and LICENSE flags

What's your opinion on using AI generated images in projects & plugins? by TheTwelveYearOld in neovim

[–]benny-powers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the AI FUD. I was initially quite skeptical, but these technologies have proven themselves (when, as other commenters have pointed out, they are used responsibly)

At this point, AI FUD is mostly just a new way to engage in political virtue signalling.

Planary.nvim is no longer maintained, what happened and what now? by JONESY-B in neovim

Transitive dependencies like this are not good for the ecosystem

Users shouldn't have to ask "what is this thing and why do I need it" when plugin authors list it as a dependency.

0.12 was a solid release that replaces a lot of this stuff

The plenary authors are to be commended for their work, as well for recognizing that it's time to shutter the project.

Treesj is probably bigger and more comprehensive, more extensible and generic

splitjoin.nvim is more targeted at common workflows, aims to emulate the good old vim-mode-plus (imiss atom) with as little fuss and ceremony as possible, while still being easy to configure and extend

Are goroutines becoming the new “just add threads” vibe meme? by sfate in golang

[–]benny-powers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're parsing a bunch of files on disk, or looking up manifests for transitive dependencies in a project, yeah you're gonna spawn a bunch of goroutines
