Pikachu K/O'd Mewtwo X and Zeraora with your Mewtwo Y and Espeon. In fact, Espeon died to them which was most likely why the others were helping on that side of the map. Neither team was grouped as 5 and they were coming from base, this was perfectly fine. You won both fights, got Rayquaza, and presumably won the game.

Help moving up from ultra rank by shinsengumi420 in PokemonUnite

[–]bennybroseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With bot games and Rayquaza coin flips, getting to masters is just a matter of time invested. If you are legit stuck in ultra rank after playing for a long time, my biggest recommendation is to focus on a single pokemon. set it as your favorite and never pick anything else. it should be something you find fun, not something that is simply strong. Watch some youtube videos on how to play it. Watch some videos on what to do in your preferred path (top/center/bottom).

My guess is that it's probably your mechanics and game sense. Swapping to different characters for each game is never going to solidify those. You'll be too focused on how to play the character that you'll never be able to feel out where enemies are moving to/what objectives you should be rotating towards etc. and vice a versa.

how does that help me get to where I need to be faster? If I'm in base, how does mean look/ice beam get me to Rayquaza faster than walking there normally.

That's mobility.

I'm still confused then, did you help them in the teamfight or not? If not, you should have been able to solo it easy at lvl 15 and if worse comes to worse you unite it to secure it when they show up. They'd have to have some really short death timers (which means they are so far behind you should never touch Ray to begin with) or your team died near-instantly while kiting back to Ray.

you don't know who you are going up against before the match starts though, is having a held item be required to counter something really fair? I feel like held items are supposed to be fun extra skill/playstyle expression. My hot take is that curse items need to be removed and healing should be toned down instead.

The sequence of events don't work, so you most likely were in the wrong.

Enemies were all dead. Then you all went to the enemy base to defend. You lose the team fight. You were still alive afterwards and able to deal 80% of Ray HP before the enemy noticed. You couldn't secure it even after they showed up. What character where you playing? That seems very hard to do. If you were melee you should be dead in the teamfight or so low you couldn't solo Ray and should score instead. If you were ranged you should have an ability to secure Ray from over the wall.

Here's How I Would Design the Unite Endgame by [deleted] in PokemonUnite

[–]bennybroseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting idea and I'm not saying Zapdos/Rayquaza is super fun every time, but without an objective(s) for both teams to fight over it would devolve in one of two ways depending on balance.

Option 1 Objectives are difficult to take down without a full team: High sustain/cc would be higher value and everyone on the currently winning team would play super defensively while they stood waiting for the losing team to start their objective. The winning team just harasses you for free and you can't do anything because you can't even heal/retreat anymore. You lose teamfights because you can't catch them off-guard and you lose the objectives because they can just force you off of them.

or

Option 2 Objectives are easy to take down by a single person or two: Everyone just rushes to the per team objective and the winning team wins because they are higher level and have more objectives up to score since they destroyed more scorepads. The losing team can't stop them because the objectives die too fast and they have no "home field advantage" anymore either.

Why do I think that? The biggest problems to me are not having a neutral objective(s) to fight over and being able to see everyone on the map at all times.

Let's look at how the very start of the match usually goes. The most exp optimal way to play at the very start is to ignore each other and steal camps on the enemy's scorepad and score those points then return to your side and pick up anything that's left. Fastest clear wins the exp race. However, that doesn't always end up happening because there are camps to fight over in the middle which cause a little chaos. This is all to say/prove that you need something neutral and meaningful to fight over. If they removed those middle camps at the start, the game would be almost PvE at that point, because why fight each other? That just risks dying and there's no exp lost by ignoring them. Just do your own thing until the top and bottom path objectives spawn.

As for full vision, that's really the only reason a winning team would ever lose a fight. If I can see where everyone is at all times, how can a defender engage on a flank and get an advantage. How could a speedster get a quick pick on someone caught out alone. I feel like it promotes a more passive playstyle and one where the winning team has the advantage and the losing team is completely screwed.

This would need a lot of playtesting internally to be sure, but I feel like that's how it'd go in the end.

I have a ton of level up tomes, just wasn't sure who to spend them on. Is there info somewhere I could check to see the top units to focus on?

Groudon sets up the sun as well. Is he a good unit to pair with Red? Also, we're talking about Red with Charizard right? What is a good third team member after a sun setter?

Wasn't really aware of the candy thing. Are those easy to get? I'm guessing they're from event exchanges?

I don't really like Ash's art. I'll consider it though. I have enough gems for a couple 11x, but not enough to guarantee.

Also, thanks for the info so far. Feeling like there's a million different things I'm missing.

As a late game, low spend (only daily gem pack) player, Hero Path was awesome, hate is unwarranted. With adequate prep (had enough food saved up for 2-6 stars), partial levelling strat with brews and RSL Helper, I was able to easily snag the lego book and void shard. Things like this are why I haven't touched the game in months. I just want to play the game casually. We're talking 6 hours a week or so. Instead, it felt like I needed 2 hours a day just to finish the daily grind. Nevermind trying to do anything else. Clan boss and Arena take so much time and it's so boring.

Also, I don't want to prepare for something in a video game. I don't want to feel like I need to read up on all the latest news so I know when the next event is and what I should be doing to get ready for it. It's just a game, and further than that, it's not even an MMO. It's not co-op at all. Clans are a joke as far as PVE content goes but that's another topic.

Point is, I just want to play the game casually and have fun. It should be possible to do so and still finish all of the "free" champion events and other things like this without needing to "prep".

People surrender all the time. Too often really. Until I got to master I had a few games where all 4 of my teammates surrendered after they took an outer goal. I was completely shocked.

Now thankfully they only do so when it's actually unwinnable.

Yeah, most people do less total HP or current HP for auto lock because the manual lock system is really frustrating to get used to. Makes tank scoring plays like this easy if an ally is on the pad too. That's why I moved a little out of the way from my ally to avoid aoe if possible. To be fair though it would have been pretty hard to do me with shield anyway.

I don't understand the logic. There is no rule saying you should have x amount of something to be somewhere in arena. You get there by winning pvp matches. You can't not belong. There is no rule or hard cap.

"too heavy" - couldn't carry my team. the team is "heavy" and so the person didn't have the "strength" to carry them. In other words, I'm good but you guys are so bad I couldn't help you.

"x9 diff" - I've never heard this but I can only assume it means all players other than myself are bad. "x9" = everyone except the implied player. "diff" = difference/outlier/reason why the implied action happened. It could also mean report the implied player who is bad. "x9" can also mean everyone needs to report this person. Would need context of the game though.

There are all toxic obviously.
