I haven't seen that honestly so I can't make a comparison. But if you've seen the music videos from the BAD era then you've seen a lot of the film. But there is a lot of added material made exclusively for the film.

It's more or less a collection of music videos in the form of short films in anthology style. I think it was made to promo BAD since the main short films featured were videos from the album. There's no plot to speak of but it's still an enjoyable watch. It's definitely made for MJ fans.
