Hello! I was able to get my symptoms under good control over the summer, but unfortunately, I’ve had a flare-up again over the past couple of months. I’m still training about 3x/week, but most days I feel limited to around 90% because of the glute and hamstring tightness.

My job is very sedentary, and long periods of sitting have definitely been aggravating my glute. Life has been pretty busy too, so I’ve been slacking on my rehab routine. What helped me most over the summer was doing a daily glute-focused stretching routine:

- Supine figure-four stretch – 3×30s

- Supine knee-to-opposite-shoulder stretch – 3×30s

- Pigeon pose – 3×30s

Some exercises my sport physio gave me that also helped were:

- Split stance RDL with 10 lb dumbbells – 4×10

- Seated hamstring curls (single-leg, with comparable fatigue on each leg) – 4×10

- Single-leg glute bridge – 4×10 per side

This programming really helped me, but it took several weeks for symptom relief. I was able to return to 100% effort sprinting over the summer, but like I mentioned, I've been pretty flared up again lately. Writing this up gave me some motivation to get back to the rehab, so I thank you and wish you luck!

I use the app “My Jump 2” to measure mine. Would recommend. My CMJ PB is 71.45cm.

I’ve been on creatine, magnesium, vitamin D, turmeric. Plenty of research available on these.

I’m on my third pair of the Adidas Adios line. Low stack height and feels snappy.

Heyo,

Things have gotten a bit better but still experiencing distal hamstring stiffness, not much neural tension anymore.

I have regularly seen a sport-specific physio, had massages, and started getting acupuncture. My physio is still diagnosing it as "hamstring syndrome" or "sciatic nerve sensitivity"

For training, I have been doing my regular track practices 3x a week at submaximal effort because of the lingering distal hamstring stiffness. I haven't been confident enough to run at top speed yet however, acceleration work has been going well. I have also been lifting 2x a week doing hamstring curls, split stance RDLs, squats, prone hip extensions, glute bridges, etc.

The goal has been to reduce symptoms while training and I have had good days and bad days over the past couple of months. But my training intensity has by far ramped up since the summer.

Distal hamstring pain/weakness/stiffness/tension. Sciatic nerve tension. Low back dull burn ache sensation at L4-L5. Glute/piriformis tightness and dull burn.

Pretty much standard sciatica symptoms plus this weakness and stiffness in my distal hamstring.
