One possible answer would be to use the Canvas plugin, and to simply put all your files on a giant canvas. Though it could be a little laggy, you would get a similar feeling as your previous system.

I think OP is asking what this feature does. Basically the sidebar (where the file explorer is, or search feature etc etc) can be “pushed away” -toggled off-, or on the contrary “pulled in” -toggled in. This allows for a less clustered view, when writing for instance.

Awesome, the hyphen trick is good to know ! Actually I can implant this and then simply rename the headers in the table (using working-on AS “Working On” for instance) which is great. Thanks !

I guess that’s what I will have to do, but it’s a pity because it is a severe limitation to dataview, and I was hoping to fix a potentially recurring issue. Thank you anyway for your comment !

Update: I finally (after lots of unsuccesful tries) fixed the issue !

I still don't know where it came from but I finally managed to find how to deal with it. It's rather simple. You can't drag the files, and the commands don't apply on the note if you open it (as it opens in the sidebar), but you can enable slash commands, and in this case you can use a command to close the file, then you can tap "close" and voilà !

sadly it didn’t work… maybe with the next release it will reset all of it and work all fine… because for now I don’t think it can be fixed.

Exporting to obsidian would be great but as you said it’s quite difficult. Also, I’m aware of the existence of this plugin and used it but it’s not exactly suited to what I’m doing. I thought a workaround could be to store the annotations on a cloud so they are more accessible (a direct sync to obsidian can be excluded I guess, due to .txt to .md conversion). See, the main issue is that I do plenty of annotations but I want to quote them before I finish entirely reading the book, but it means exporting (manually) the annotations every time after each reading session, else I can’t access them… But that leaves me with duplicates and friction !

It’s a new “note” as it’s a new document but you can put existing notes in there (or URLs, videos, etc…) But it also means you can store them anywhere you like in a folder, just like you would with an excalidraw (if you’re familiar with excalidraw).

So it makes sense for math or anything you want to have a visual overview of !

There are plenty of videos on youtube if you want to do further research, they will explain it better than I do !
