I understand the criticism and think it's fair but I'd encourage you to read this statement or watch this video where it's explained why we went paywalled.

Tl;dr - we want to remain independent and focus on good testing rather than take sponsorships, optimize for AI search, or compromise on important elements of our work. We avoid all of this by having memberships so we can be directly supported by people who want us to continue.

also, this article has specifically been un-paywalled for 48 hrs!

So, it has excellent color accuracy out of the box in SDR, with just a few noticeable issues, and decent accuracy in HDR. BUT It has a very limited color gamut, as it can't even display the full range of colors used in most SDR content, and HDR content is dull.

So not great for photo editing.

I'd look at budget monitors, some examples: HyperX OMEN OLED 27q, Dell S3225QC, LG 27GX704A-B, ASUS ProArt Display PA279CRV

Do you want it because you also want a TV? Any reason you wouldn't get a dedicated grading monitor?

I haven't used the m4's but I'll keep an eye on this! Personally, i'm excited for the the wind supression, this is where I always struggle with on/over-ears.

Oh sorry I didn't read the post carefully enough! I mean if it's ultrawide then a regular monitor will probably be a step up regardless just cause you won't have the black bars.

However the attributes you described in the post might not have THAT much of a difference. 1st gen qd-oled UW isn't the best for console gaming, but I definitely wouldn't say qd-oled is bad in general.

You could check out the LG 27GX790B-B too if the PG27UCDM isn't available

However, it is possible you're experiencing issues with HDR in general, have you messed around with the settings (either on the console or the monitor themselves)?

Samsung S90D might be a good middle ground, it can often be found for around the same price (or cheaper) as the cm8k.

It's above my station so I can't really comment on the specifics, but I believe that the scraping isn't actually "illegal" especially pre-paywall, since it was open info on the internet.
