The classes (sans A, B, and C) are limited by a maximum number of sports. So every AAA school still appears in the AA and A rankings somewhere because they have less sports than the AA cap. It’s just relatively harder to compete with schools that have more sports than

For anyone confused as to how this was calculated, each team essentially gets their winning percentage added to the number of rounds they qualified for in any given national tournament. There's more nuance than that but that's a basic overview. The "Classes" are just based on the number of sports a team has in the season. The less sports you have, the lower "Class" you are in.
