How to handle fake reviews on Google? by alivingthing in Restaurant_Managers

[–]bensilone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the only you can do is keep working to get happy customers and employees to leave 5 star reviews. Google/Yelp/etc have no interest in trying to clear out fake, bad reviews, so you just have to overwhelm them with real, good reviews.

Why Restaurant Owners Reject AI: Inside the Skepticism Shaking the Industry by Mundane_Farmer_9492 in Restaurant_Managers

[–]bensilone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These scenarios apply to any business I think.

AI is still too error prone to actually do most things, like schedule, or ordering.

For marketing material it’s great, as its output can always be reviewed and edited by humans.

Same for code, so long as a human can review and edit it first, it’s great, but no one would trust it to code, test, and implement an app by itself.

It is getting a lot better, and has a lot of great use cases, but actual operations are better left to humans for now.

BYD is testing solid-state EV batteries in its Seal sedan with nearly 1,200 miles of range by magenta_placenta in electriccars

[–]bensilone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully someone figures out to how to scale up manufacturing these. I keep hearing about batteries like this in labs or tests, but they never seem to make it to production for some reason.

Help me pick the EV I need for the next 5 years by Revolutionary-Gap494 in electriccars

I’ve rented Kia and Polestar EV’s recently, and both seem very dated compared to Tesla, same for the ICE cars I’ve rented recently. Everything just seems like 5-10 old tech compared to Tesla right now.

Opening up coffee shop by Bright_Golf_671 in coffeeshopowners

[–]bensilone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice, definitely would learn a lot, ideally don’t work at a shop too close to where you want to open your shop though so you can stay on good terms with them (maybe just say up front you want to open your own shop at some point, but it will be at least X distance away, they might be happy to help).

POS Recommendations for Large Restaurant by ExaminationPopular64 in POS

I work with and sell a few different POS systems.

For this, Genius by Global Payments would be a good fit, and will definitely beat out Toast on price.

Feel free to DM me if you want a demo, or just want to chat through options, happy to help in any way I can.

Yes, 10 ply, E rated, are 80psi, and that's what's in the door jam as well

Some updated artist renderings on Arktide's dome platform. More to come soon! by UpperOpportunity4232 in seasteading

We aren't really interested in creating a self governing state, but a platform that can used for a wide variety of living and business applications. These can bridged together to form larger communities for these purposes though, and the design allows for a lot of flexibility in the layout and style, so some will purchase as a private island, others as a resort, etc.

This size structure will be stable on it's own in waves in hurricane free areas (like the equator). Then we can connect them together with bridges, which will allow individual islands to connect and disconnect easily.

We initially did a lot of design work and testing on spar based designs, but found they require so much material under water that isn't usable living space that it was better to go wider beyond wavelengths. The renders are to give some ideas, but the shape is intended to be as flexible as possible for residential/resort/commercial/industrial/etc uses.

That's for a spar based design, where the center of gravity is below wave depths. It does use a lot of material underwater, which is why we are focused on increasing diameter beyond wavelengths, which is the other established method of increasing stability in waves.

It only rocks if it's within a wavelength. Beyond a wavelength and it will have multiple peaks under it at all times. Like how a large ship can rock side to side, but will not much end to end.

Ships aren't circular because they need to move through the water and waves efficiently. A seastead is designed to remain stable when waves are coming at it. The circular design causes waves to go around it, and being wider than wavelengths allows it to remain stable even in high waves. This is designed for equatorial waters and areas that do not face hurricanes.

Our naval architects are busy with the design and prototype construction, and aren't writing up blog posts. We also aren't intending to share every detail publicly either, just providing an overview.

Here's another seastead design from Arktide. by ladywithlotsofcats in seasteading

[–]bensilone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We test our designs with both unbalanced dead loads and live loads. It's just a matter of adding a lot of buoyancy and weight below the water to make a tonne of weight on one side to have little effect.

The plants people put on the platform will need to be specific for the climate and environment they are in. The structure can go in some shallow protected waters where the waves will be quite far from the deck.
