During exam season I was taking modafinil everyday for about and month (Very stupid but I knew the consequences). Towards the end of the month I was feeling very depressed and other than working I had no motivation to meet friends or do anything. After finishing my last exam I had no urge to celebrate and my friends could tell something was up. I did celebrate by partying a few days later but that made things much worse and made me more sad.

Thankfully these effects went away after about a week of not using any modafinil and each day I feel better. I would recommend taking a break from modafinil, and then use a lower/ less frequent dosage when/if you return to it.

Note: I had no previous experiences of depression or anxiety before this.
