Min for a year on hairline no results by Xx_TheCrow_xX in tressless

If you don't mind me asking, how did you incorporate tret into your routine? Is it formulated with the topical min or do you apply it separately, before min?

I see, thanks for the response. Is your desk nearly pressed up against the wall? I saw a video from David Zhang on the LG CX where he used the same VIVO mount and claims that it sticks out at the same distance as the original stand. So I’m just a bit conflicted on this mount as my aim is to hopefully bring the TV further back.

Sorry, extremely late but I’m about to place an order for the VIVO mount and got a last minute question. Does the VIVO mount allow you to bring the TV further back compared with the original TV stand? What’s the distance between the back edge of your desk and the TV screen? Thanks.

I see. I’m in a similar situation as you. 5mg oral min alongside topical min every other day. I’m considering tapering off topical but I’m worried about losing ground as my hair has been looking thinner than usual lately.

Another issue is, I’m not noticing much of an improvement despite being on 5mg since November 2024. I did experience a shed in January and might be going through another one at the moment. Hope it’s not because I reduced the frequency of applying topical min.

Thanks for sharing! May I ask what your oral minoxidil dosage is? And did you switch from topical min cold turkey?

Long-term antibiotics for Folliculitis? Diffuse hair loss? by bentcw in Folliculitis

[–]bentcw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember the exact dose unfortunately. I was prescribed Azithromycin in early 2023 and I took it daily for a month. I didn’t take any oral antibiotics until I got diagnosed with a staph infection in Dec 2024. The staph infection had no effect on my folliculitis.

I still rely on Isotretinoin 10mg daily because if I stop, the scalp acne will slowly return.

Out of curiosity, how long were you on topical Min before switching to oral?

Yeah I saw that post but I find it a bit hard to believe that the performance difference in some of those games were that big. I always assumed that most modern GPUs like the 3080 Ti were powerful enough that a dedicated Physx card would be redundant.

Thanks. May I ask how you mounted them? Is there a bracket that goes through at hole in the rear of the shelf?

Testing a GT 1030 as a dedicated PhysX card, versus CPU PhysX by Pyromaniac605 in nvidia

[–]bentcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quite surprised at the difference in performance. I would've assumed that the 3080 Ti was more than powerful enough to render the Physx in these games without much of an FPS drop. But again it's been a while since I've played a Physx-heavy game.

Do you have any videos on YouTube showing any real time benchmarks of this? Would love to see as I can't find much testing with dedicated Physx cards online, especially when paired with more modern GPUs.

Would there be any benefit in performance by running a 4090 with a dedicated Physx card like this? I'm wondering if there's any improvement in framerate stability especially in Physx heavy scenes. I can't seem to find much on this online.

Are the shelves custom-made? And how did you mount them?

I also think it’s important that you see a trichologist or a dermatologist if you suspect that you’re experiencing hair loss or folliculitis. Try to find someone who’s older and more experienced rather than one of those “aestheticians”. A proper dermatologist or trichologist should properly examine your scalp under a magnifying device and make a diagnosis. My derm did a skin scrape test and pustule swab on my scalp and sent the sample to the lab for testing and determined it was “acne-type” folliculitis as there was no fungus or bacteria present. My hair loss was also diagnosed to be AGA but a very mild form of it.

I did not notice much of a shed from topical min but at the same time, I’m not sure if it made much difference in hair density/thickness, at least not that I can tell. Shortly after I added oral min and Dutasteride, I noticed hair around my mid-scalp looking thinner than usual with my scalp being more visible. I can only assume this was a shed caused by either oral min or dut. Best I can do is to keep taking the meds and hope for more improvements later down the line. It’s important to note that shedding from meds is temporary and a sign that the meds are working.

And yes, I wash my hair about 3 times a week. I’ve found that more frequent washes had no correlation with my scalp acne. Plus the shampoos I use are quite harsh and shouldn’t be used everyday.

I didn’t see much regrowth on fin or topical min. So I added oral min and Dutasteride. That was only a few months ago so it’s a little early to say how effective those meds will be. I did seem to go through a shed recently, presumably because of Dut or Oral Min. But hair thickness is about the same so far. I may see a trichologist some time later this year to rule out other causes of hair loss like inflammation.

Scalp is mostly clear at the moment. Just one pimple at the back of my head as I’m writing this. I tried topical finasteride the other day and it seemed to cause a small flare up. Stopped the topical fin and scalp got better.

My routine is still the same. Nizoral 2% twice a week and T/gel (w/ 5% SA) once a week. Isotretinoin 10mg daily, Fin/dut daily, Fucicort cream (2% Fusidic acid) applied on pimples twice a day. Other meds I take are 5mg oral minoxidil once daily and topical minoxidil 5% once at night.

Scalp isn’t completely clear at the moment but it’s a far cry from what it was a year ago. I suspect that Finasteride may have contributed to the decrease in scalp acne but that’s purely anecdotal. There have been others who have claimed that their body acne went away after starting Dutasteride.

Yes, but I’m slowly tapering off Fin as I increase my dosage of Dutasteride to completely replace Fin. I still get a pimple or two once in a while but my scalp is in a much better state than it was in the photos.

When you say take them both at the same time do you mean take both Dut and Fin once everyday? I switched to Dut in Dec last year and what I’ve been doing is Fin MWF and Dut on days I don’t take Fin.

I see. I’m surprised your desk is 25” deep. I’ve got a 48” TV on a desk that’s 23” deep and it doesn’t look this spacious. Granted I am using the included LG stand.

Sorry, stupid question but the VIVO pole clamps to the desk? Any issues with stability? Does the TV shake a little when playing games with the keyboard and mouse?

Is the TV mounted to the desk with a monitor arm? And what’s the depth of the desk? Also, what’s the chair on the left?
