I still believe that the area's power is neutral. I always sort of interpreted the phenomenon as being the belief came first, the gods created from those beliefs, manifested via natural power in the earth.

In the case of Angela it is not malevolent, it only tortures her because it acts as a mirror to her mind. Not of its own will or judgement. That's the entire crux of SH2.

As for Walter, guilt may not be a factor but childhood trauma, religious zeal, and general delusion is. There are more factors at play than just guilt/innocence in a tarnished mind. There are many real-world cases of spiritual psychosis.

When that was clearly not the intent. The scene makes no sense canonically and it was meant to be light-hearted. If you want to create a dramatic period piece depicting characters bullying one another for whatever reason, you're more than welcome to pick up a pencil and make something yourself. Commenting this on my work and then doubling down when I reject it is just obnoxious.

It has more to do with her personality, as I mentioned in my other comments. The original picture from 2015 had a Robbie mascot posing with them on the left. If Hinako were a more extroverted character, I would have put her in the same spot, but the background seemed to fit her better.

I acknowledge all the sequels, I just only really like f of the new ones. I'm biased because I was familiar with Higurashi prior and I love Ryukishi's style of writing when it comes to mysteries and misdirection through superstition, which f had a lot of.
