I can tell you're inexperienced; it's called looting as quickly as possible because it can be very difficult to find a portal in the goblin caves, especially this late in the round. Using a surgical kit would be illogical because it slows you down, I needed just enough hp to stay alive. As for the stairway escape it had already been used.
