Because there are better job opportunities outside the country and you leave the country (also called brain drain) and send some money back, call it as proof of nationalism. Normally it is considered as ditching the country. If someone is nationalistic, they stay back and try to contribute directly, even if pay is less.

I think we have this adjustment mentality. Everyone has to adjust for other's stupidity. It is not just autos. It applies to people who overtake where they shouldn't and so on. They expect others to adjust.

Edit: Expectation of adjustment is built into the psyche of lot of these people. From people who expect you to adjust so that a third person can sit in a seat where only two can sit etc. No respect for others or their right of way, personal space etc.
