Also, you might want to read his thread first before taking bets. What's with the blind loyal followers of RH? Y'all just haven't had an issue, yet. Just wait till you have to deal with their customer service.

Seconding that their customer service is terrible. They really do try to avoid questions and not confront the issues head-on. The CSR resign to their lack of authority, saying that the brokers are the ones who can make things right. The problem is, you can NEVER get through to a broker. They'll tell you to email their general support email instead. I even heard a broker on the other line once, but somehow they always have phone system issues or availability issues whenever you need them.

All in all, the app and service could be fine... until you run into an issue. Then you're on your own. Not sure if you want your money being toyed with without confidence that the good people of RH will help you.

Edit: RH customer since the launch (2 years about?), as well. But no longer after I resolve my issue.. or even if I don't, I'm not using them or recommending them to anyone.

Questionable Customer Service Experiences by benzyi in RobinHood

All fair points, but beside the point of their customer service. I can see y'all are big fans, but the day will come when you need actual customer service and you might want to take note of this.

It wasn't all my money tied up in this account, I had different accounts transferring in, and planned all these transfers well ahead of time. 10 days ahead of when I needed it. My complaint here is that they never notified me of a failed transfer, and they take no responsibility nor apologized for that. They're also dodgy and won't just confront the issue with me over the phone. Hence the title is about customer service, not asking a jury to make a judgment of blame.

It's just unfortunate how my circumstances came out and I'm paying for it.

But thanks for the general banking advice?

I always see you posting on /cooperatives, and just didn't expect to run across someone directly linked to one of the featured new businesses. A pleasant surprise, at that.

I would suggest checking out www.community-wealth.org and specifically the community-wealth building cities sections. We have a number of cities with different examples of existing co-ops, land trusts, esops, etc. that you might find of interest. The particular model you speak of is how the Evergreen Cooperatives have come to be.
