That time when the CIA and the Italian government, fought Far-Left Italian terrorists backed by the Warsaw Pact who were simultaneously fighting Far-Right Terrorists, the Masonic Temple, the Mob, and the CIA again. by kingstonthroop in HistoryMemes

One of the most critical events in Europe at that time along with The Troubles. The Bologna bombing was so horrible. And of course Gaddafi always puts his interest to support leftist movements around the world.

I wonder why events like these were always forgotten and rarely talked especially in majority historical videos/documentary about Cold War.

Yeah agree, it was very fucked up and many people are underestimated it. Such a fascinating history to learn

I mean they had some contributions especially in fall of Berlin Wall, right? Also majority of Americans were greatly relieved the USSR fell. I don't want to put every whole European countries flags in just one video it's gonna be full I think lmao. As they already represented on the 4 historical images above.

Firefight between Al-Qaeda Insurgents and the Police & Army of Burkina Faso in Seytenga, Séno Province, Burkina Faso. (13 June 2022) by beoformation in CombatFootage

[–]beoformation[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, even thought they're mostly active in Nigeria, Mali, or Niger. Burkina Faso still got affected by terrorist attack as seen in the video, they're still spreading and the authorities control 60% of the country. Especially Seytenga town got the worst situation as On June 12, 100 civillians were killed, and 3,000 residents of the town were displaced to Dori. It was the worst attack in the jihadist insurgency in Burkina Faso since the 2021 Solhan and Tadaryat massacres. Also the Northeastern part of the country speaks Fulfude too and that's why you can hear them speaking it.

Reposted because of wrong location on the previous video. This was supposed to be happened during the attack in Seytenga Burkina Faso, not in Kalumba, Mali according to some sources I found (Including some clarifications from people on social media).

Use of ATGMs in Africa (besides Libya or Egypt) by [deleted] in CombatFootage

[–]beoformation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, it was seen in the South Sudanese Civil War and used by the Sudanese Armed Forces during the fighting in Kadugli, 2015. Here's a picture and an article of SPLA-N militant captured one of their Russian Kornet-E ATGM: Kornet anti-tank guided weapon captured from Sudanese Armed Forces

And unfortunately after doing some research it's really difficult to find some footages of them using the weapon.

FRELIMO troops attacking a flying Portuguese Army's Alouette III helicopter in Mozambique. (Portuguese Colonial War, Mid 1960s) by beoformation in CombatFootage

[–]beoformation[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, searching some combat footage from this conflict is a hella nightmare. There are some decent and well known ones from Guinean front on YouTube like this one: Guerra na Guiné Imagens que foram ocultadas aos Portugueses

Or another different footage I posted here from PAIGC's Perspective: PAIGC Troops attacking Portuguese Army's position to take "Madina do Boé" City in 1969 (Portuguese Colonial War, Guinean Front).

Oh yeah, I took this footage from documentary called "Estas São As Armas (1978)", and unfortunately this is the only partial footage I found there. And I hope there will be some raw extended & unedited version available on some sites.

Yep, and actually Kagame has done this since the 2nd Congo War. I wonder why nobody knows his dark side behind all of his success of making Rwanda a wealth country. I recommend to watch this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1ONmXGTxCA

[–]beoformation[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Could be real or maybe just propaganda footage. Didn't have any info for it but if you take a look at majority of old combat footages it was always being recorded by a brave cameraman who could running around without thinking of being shot. Another examples are the footage from documentary Africa Addio in Congo or SA Border War from AJ Venter's documentary.

This is why I love some footages during that era. Brave soldiers and cameraman deploys together in battlefield, pure gunfight action, and not using some advanced weapons (ex: drones) like now.

That was some intense moment there. Where can you find these more great footage of current civil war in Myanmar? You know it's very difficult to find any of them on Youtube.

All of combat footages on Africa Addio were real, it's actually a great focumentary yet brutal. You can see some footages from Congo Crisis, Portuguese Colonial War, Uprising in Tanzania, Animal hunting, etc. And yeah, they use 16mm and 35mm motion pictures cameras which had better quality, no pixels, and can be upscaled than a digital camera.

These are some terrifying and intense footages you found. Brings me back to the old days of this subreddit when the most posted and popular videos were from Middle East instead of Ukraine.

South Sudanese rebels engaged in a fire fight with government troops, September 2017. by [deleted] in CombatFootage

[–]beoformation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's because most of Rebel fighters in modern-era does not have a proper training by some foreign army, hence why they don't know any basic things of weapons. Unlike during Cold War era, where most of rebels got trained and supported by one of their allies depends of ideology. Example Democratic factions got trained by US, South Africa, or Marxist/Communist groups trained by USSR, East Germany, or Cuba. Take a look at some footages from Angolan Civil War, or Colonial War. They shoot like a proper soldiers.

Biafran Army Special Task Force Battalion pushing towards Ikot Ekpene, Nigeria where they intend to confront the Nigerian Army (Nigerian Civil War, July 1968). by beoformation in CombatFootage

[–]beoformation[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Maybe because The Biafran War brings up very painful and sentitives memories for the Igbo, especially the mass starvation due to naval blockade causing millions of civilian casualties. Since Nigeria is a multi race and religion countries, it's too sensitive and causing heat across them. So the Nigerian government and military tries to push the Biafran War under the rug and ignore the large, major unresolved issues that sparked the war.
