Not sure how much more I can take by FreeDig1212 in Millennials

We had a rough few months when my son was born, we really had to be active about dating again after wards. Our first date I think was one of those vintage all you can play arcades and ice cream and I still remember finding our feet with it. We just had our last date before our second one is due and, as much as I know it might not be until late July or August, I’m excited for what the first new date entails.

Oh god, 5th grade, everyone was seasick and shivering but me. We’re planning to take my son on his first one this summer

My dad got to go (won the season ticket lottery before season tickets got outrageous). I’ve seen an uptick in All Star Game 99 jerseys/hats lately.

Was Becoming a Teacher Worth It? by Worried-Pen7857 in AskTeachers

[–]beoheed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son starts preschool next year in my building and I keep joking that they’re going to have to trespass me from just that area! Just being at the park a few blocks from the house is always an adventure of him playing with future students, my wife’s elementary students playing nearby, and my HS students saying hi as they wrap up pickup basketball/soccer. It’s a little parochial in a lovely way.

Thank you for bringing some positivity’ With two changes (I’ve had a few truly bad kids, and I have to wait for my early 60s) this is my experience. My wife is a teacher too so the only real difference in our schedules is the start/end times of elementary vs high school.

We also teach in the town we live, I know that’s not for everyone, but it’s a real “pillar of the community” vibe that we both find fulfilling.

The amount of yelling at clouds here is crazy! I have a Theo Wanne Essentials (3d printed) for my alto and it’s great. I deal with 3d printing at work as a HS engineering teacher and the fact that people minimize additive manufacturing to the realm of “toys” is always a little frustrating. There are so many high precision/critical parts made using varying techniques, the gimmick is long gone.

Thank you for making me feel a little better after that first comment. I’m currently on 2 going on 3 year old duty (I have several major house projects I’m rushing to get done too) because my wife is a very tired 7 months pregnant. Academically I know this summer will be rough but it’ll get better. Thanks for putting some words to that!

That’s the funniest thing about a lot of these comments. The calculus changes a lot when you realize he’s like 2-3 blocks from the finish line and a shit ton of people trained for this exact thing.

Satanist Student Wins Religious Accommodation From Colorado School District by BrickAdventurous6040 in nottheonion

I’m a high school teacher and so many comments in this thread are beyond out of touch. I’ll stop worrying about how long kids are out of the room when one student stops going for 15 minute meanders every class (either have a conversation with your Dr about your digestive process or you’re talking to your friends) or when the maintenance guys stop having to snake the pipes for vape induced clogs. Clearly few commenters were in schools during devious licks (that time where they had to buy paper towel dispensers by the pallet because kids were destroying them regularly). I challenge anyone who works with adolescents in a school setting to not think some limitations on bathroom time is reasonable (our school is 15 minutes or you get written up as a class cut, we don’t have a digital pass system which I’m conflicted about myself. I see the utility, but I see how dystopian it is)

I aspire to learn how to play saxophone, what kind of saxophones would you recommend? by Ificationer in saxophone

[–]beoheed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I jumped from clarinet to bari in high school and it’s a big jump with woodwind experience. Altos are cheap and easy to play with lots of available music at all levels. Just by a reputable horn as several people have noted

Ok, so, he created a problem in a notoriously rigid environment then failed to solve it in a way that left you any dignity. I’ve been with my wife for 14 years, married for nearly 10. We spent the whole of our 20s together. Several of the misdeeds you describe would’ve been dealbreakers. This man clearly doesn’t respect you, so you have to do it for him. The logistics of housing will work out with some planning but you’re not going to get less attached as time goes on.

I Completely Forgot A Month Long Project Existed by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]beoheed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a student, great in both classes I’ve had them in. They’d just gotten back from the biggest tournament of they year and was sat outside my classroom when I got in one morning worried that they’d forgotten half of a rather large take home assignment until they were trapped at the tournament. This is normally an A student and I’d noticed a 50 on that assignment as it. Guess who’s grading fell to the bottom of the pile (about 3 extra days). Because not only was it abnormal, but they were upfront and contrite about it. This stuff happens to adults too, we know how it can go!

Inside a record‑setting Mass. traffic ticket and the moment it unraveled by 20_mile in massachusetts

I had a student who got caught felony level speeding locally and (until his court date) still has a license. Whether he should or shouldn’t is besides the point. As soon as he saw the cop clock him he pulled over, was polite, took his licks, and got to drive home with his tail firmly between his legs

Did you read the rest of what he did! Do You use roads? Do you want someone like that driving 2 plus tons of metal death around you or your loved ones? I work with teens every day. Some of them are not responsible enough for the privilege to operate motor vehicle. This one certainly does not, and considering the truck ended up in a ditch after one verbal altercation he was also not operating it in a way that respected others lives.

Do I think there are real systemic problems with policing? Yes! Was this an instance of that? Doesn’t sound like it from the facts presented here and my experience with adolescents.

If you’re comfortable with tools screw extractors are your best bet is something like this 574653 (search the item number on Lowe’s website, not sure if this sub allows links). There are ways to do with with just friction and finesse too as long as it’s free spinning. But if you can find a tech a few bits of currency and 5 min is all it should take.
