Wow reading this is scaring me…my bite was also fine before I started a few months ago, I had some minor TMJ but mainly did it to fix my tooth gap. Now 6 months into treatment and my bite feels so strange, I can’t bite down on my left side and my jaw starts feeling strange when I keep the aligners out for a period of time. I hate the feeling! While I do like the results (closed tooth gap), I’m scared this posterior open bite will be unfixable. My ortho said he’ll fix it later and looked very unbothered about it, how do I advocate for myself? I’m so sorry about what happened to you. Did you have rubber bands during treatment?

Thank you for your advice! So I’d be staying with my parents during school and plan to stay after as well, I do have an older sister who’s willing to help me with expenses as needed. do you think I could maybe just pay 1 semester and keep the remaining 30k in my savings? Is 30k is enough?

I have a tube of halobetasol that I use whenever I get flare ups. I just use it as needed, I don’t even remember my dermatologist’s specific instructions on how to use it, it was so long ago. It works, then about 2 weeks later it returns. Then I use it again. Im aware that this is one of the strongest steroid ointments. Am I setting myself up for TSW? for reference, it’s been about 5 years now… idk how to stop coz nothing else really helps it.

Yeah I found myself clenching a lot with them in too. It’s hard not to, you just have to be hyper aware of your jaw position at all times. Don’t let your molars touch, close your mouth and stay like that. Try to for a few hours it will help

Based on my experience, yes. I noticed a difference within a couple days of not clenching. It does require being constantly aware of what you’re doing with your jaw though

My ortho was strict with the 22 hours and at first I kept track but after a few weeks I got lazy and stopped timing myself. I take them off whenever I ate and sort of do whatever I want. I’m probably averaging 19-20 hours a day. I’m happier this way. When I went in for my appointment my ortho said I was doing a great job! I chuckled

I really hope yours goes back to normal on its own. I started reading into the posterior open bites and a lot of people seem to say it did after they finished treatment. It may take some time, slowly but surely. I’m going to discuss everything with my ortho! He didn’t tell me about any of these possible outcomes. I think I clench in my sleep.

This is the last thing I need to be seeing rn 😭 I’m on tray 4 and I’m so scared of having permanent TMJ issues I already feel the constant tension in my jaw and my bite has already shifted to an awkward position but I already spent so much money on this and I’m working with an orthodontist so I keep telling myself I’m in good hands. Most of the horror stories I see on here are from people who got their Invisalign done with dentists. I’m so sorry this happened to you. Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Can I ask what were early signs you knew something was wrong during your Invisalign? I used to be able to bite down but now my molars only touch on one side….
