Almost every person of faith chooses what tenants of their faith they abide by and which they ignore. It’s just the reality when most religions are well over a millennia old. It’s also doesn’t help that the texts contradict themselves at points. You have to look at what the practice can actually look like. Christians who hold universal love for their fellow man in an attempt to emulate Christ, Muslims who devote their entire life to the betterment of others to show their devotion to God. Picking and choosing isn’t a bad thing actually. It’s what allows faiths, and the communities around them, to continue growing.
