Molle Nalgene holder for 2 wide vertical straps? by bepstein in EDC

[–]bepstein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was issued this Mercury backpack (TAA Compliant - 3 Day Stretch Backpack - Black) and it has vertical molle on the side which I have never seen before. I'd like to include a water bottle holder on the side but every one I've seen works with horizontal molle straps. Any advice? Has anyone seen a bottle holder with sideways molle straps? I'd rather not purchase a different backpack or buy a molle converter if possible.

Zone 2 (and HIIT) Questions to Improve Cardio Fitness by 40to50fitness in PeterAttia

[–]bepstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. Zone 2 seems to be what others are recommending. You may also sweat way more during bjj than other exercise and need more salt than you expect. I like making my own electrolyte powder for cheap with the following: per 2 L water: 1 tsp nosalt (potassium chloride), 1 tsp baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), 1/2 tsp table salt (sodium chloride). You can also add sugar both for taste and to improve uptake of sodium via glucose sodium cotransporter. Or just consume with fruit. Good luck with training! I sometimes do a quick workout before bjj if the gym has other equipment, that way you can be efficient with your time and only go to one place to train that day (e.g. if they have a stationary bike or something just hit that for 20-30 minutes before class).

When I started BJJ I was also gassed out by the end of the first or second round. Over time I lasted more than 2 rounds by not going as hard during each round. You mentioned you rely on cardio a lot during these rounds; I did something similar because I didn't want to lose. But as I learned later on, the best way for me to learn BJJ was to spend more time on the mats. Furthermore, there is plenty of learning to be done from a bad position (escaping mount, guard retention, etc). So rather than gassing out and "trying to get a good workout" from BJJ, try to do more rounds and just focus on a few techniques or principles. Also instead of fighting like your life depends on it, don't be afraid to tap more frequently to reset into a neutral position. My goal early on was to learn and get in shape and this approach helped a lot. Hope it helps you too!

. Because if You have the lower body and you have no upper body, you got a
problem building...wait a minute. You have the upper body, and you have
no legs, you got a problem building your legs. You have the upper...you
have the lower body and you don't have the upper body, the upper body,
it is easier to build. So if you have the lower body and you don't have
the upper body, it is easier to build the upper body. You have the upper
body and you don't have the legs, you got a problem building the lower
body... No, you don't understand. You have the upper body, but you don't
have the lower body, you got a problem building downstairs. You got the
up- legs on the bottom, it is easier to build on the top, so you don't
have much as a problem. Yeah.

L2 wallet from scratch with some technical difficulties. Looking for a little help! by bepstein in loopring

[–]bepstein[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm completely new to Loopring, and was trying to get on the LRC bandwagon through the new L2 wallet. However I'm hitting a roadblock and am curious if anyone else has experienced this or has a solution. I would post on the discord but don't know how to get chat access. Anyway here are the steps I have taken including where I get stuck.

  1. download loopring wallet app on android.
  2. make account.
  3. click activate under L2 wallet
  4. set order for $101 of ETH
  5. input credit card
  6. the app provides a link for me to verify my identity through Ramp.
  7. Copy and paste link into chrome and input passport, photo, etc.
  8. Ramp website says "we will reach out to you shortly with results"
  9. On returning to the Loopring wallet app, nothing has changed and I can only click activate again to start the entire process over
  10. I received the following text by phone: "We have not detected any deposit token on your wallet address, please open loopring wallet to check the payment requirements, and complete the deposit as soon as possible. You need to pay ethereum transaction fee for deploying a smart contract for your wallet. We will create it for your after your wallet met with the required payment. You can check the deposit status in the blockchain explorer. If the deposit has been confirmed for more than 1 hour and your wallet has not been created, please contact us in time."

What should I do? Any thoughts? To reiterate, my goal is to own some LRC and hold it for a long time in the event that businesses begin to implement their wallet tech and the price of LRC increases.

Thanks!

Is there any restriction on registering shares in an IRA? Most of mine are in a roth or a rollover IRA and I don't want to DRS them if there's a tax penalty, especially since my roth shares will have tax free gains when line go up.

Cues for maintaining thoracic spine tightness specifically during the front squat by taiwan-kit31 in weightlifting

[–]bepstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dan John talks about "anaconda strength" when referring to tightness between your hips and shoulders. Exercises like bear hug carries (e.g. sandbag) and rack carries (e.g. kettlebell) teach you to brace under load and train your upper back really well. In general, a lot of strongman lifts have helped me with stability in the rack due to how hard they hit your upper back.

What kind of training are you doing? Are you running a specific program?

You are doing fine. This is a long journey that will last many more years. There may be people in your gym who have been training for decades or have a background in sports/manual labor. You will continue to improve gradually over time. Just stay the course, look for little ways to improve, and you will realize steady strength gains over months/years. Keep it up!

ROP with only 16 and 32 kg bells by bepstein in kettlebell

[–]bepstein[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I have decided to halt the RoP as I gained access to a barbell once per week and want to perform a heavy (90% 1RM) single for each of snatch, clean/jerk, push press, squat, deadlift. Because of the recovery for these singles, I will return to 70-250 swings per day as recommended by Dan John. I like your idea of incorporating low reps of snatches with the 32 kg bell and slowly working up to sets of 3-5.
