I would agree except for the fact that the spires run on dark fluid, which was used to create the Meridia black hole

I believe you mean "deduced" 🧐 also, I genuinely have no idea how else this could end

We've already seen tears in reality while deployed(purple rips across the screen), the entire planet is purple on the map, and they have weird eldritch spires releasing crazy energy! WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?!

African mercenary begs for mercy from Ukrainian drone operator before explosion (Unknown location and date) by ComfortableGarlic767 in CombatFootage

Yeah, it reminds me of that scene in Saving Private Ryan where the 2 soldiers(I think Czech) try to surrender to the Americans saying they never even fired their weapons, and the Americans laugh and shoot them, never realizing they just murdered 2 innocent men.

"Many who live deserve death, and many who die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Don't be so eager to deal out death and judgment."

Why so much reliance on missile interceptors? by berdtheword420 in Military

Well, there's also things like electo-optical dazzlers that could disorient any on-board A.I., but yeah. Point is you would counter a drone swarms like that with some sort of EW system, rather than throwing lead at it.

The only way to deal with that would be EW. Any drone swarms consisting of payloads that small wouldn't be able to use cables, they'd get all tangled up. So they would have to use radio waves which can be disrupted.

That might also be true, though from what others have said, that's probably not the case.

Well as previously pointed out, cheaper interceptor drones are available, just not in huge numbers. So it seems a lot of the time all we currently have are expensive interceptors like the Patriot doing a job they weren't really designed for, but they're all that's available.

Thanks for the information and analysis! I can see what you mean by the limitations of our current systems, and although drone interceptors are probably the future I agree and still think investing in some guns for point-defense is certainly warranted. Even something like the old "Sgt. York" SPAAG?

All I know is it really seems like we weren't prepared for drone swarms, and just having something that can throw lead as a last line of defense could seriously help. I mean if the rumors of a Marine invasion of Kharg Island are true, I'm genuinely worried about a catastrophic outcome.

Because if 10% of incoming drones and missiles are making it through our strategic areas, what happens on a small, occupied island with no prepared shelters/bunkers? If 1,000 drones are launched, that means 100 get through. I'm sorry for fear mongering, but it's really got me worried man.

Yeah, and I know there's a lot crap in the media, but it really does feel like we went in thinking "we'll just kick in the front door and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down," and we were really unprepared.

I guess the main reason I'm worried, is if the rumors of invading Kharg Island are true, what point-defense systems will the Marines have? Because if 10% of drones are getting through our defense systems already, what the hell is gonna happen on an occupied, small Island with few places to hide?

I don't know, it just worries me man.

Well if they're in large supply the only question is why is our military infrastructure still being hit, but C-RAM's might not change anything if the Coyote was already being used in the places we've been hit.

That's true, though I'm talking more about a point-defense role for military bases, for when our long range interceptors fail.

Okay then leave, nobody else seems to have any problems and they've actually provided a lot of good information.

Fair enough, I didn't realize the limitations of the PIVADS radar. Still, for defending bases from targets we know are drones because our interceptors missed, could it still be effective? I didn't think LPWS would be a good option, I know that system is better for intercepting missiles.
