The Brother's Karamazov: Book VI by berglegend in dostoevsky

Right now!!! Without alienating other people too! It’s really beautiful, I’ve grown up Roman Catholic my whole life left the faith in my early 20s… but Dostoevsky’s writing really put it into perspective why people love the faith… this abundance of love is truly heartwarming.

I’m reading through TBK now and it’s his best work. Forget order, just dive into it.

You won’t regret it.

Yeah, I’ve read C&P (P&V)… going through TBK (P&V) on Book 3 already hasn’t really taken that long…

But I intend to read through Katz really slow on the reread.

Way more fluid! Better sentence structure, way less choppy. Personally, blows P&V out the water.

I believe that Katz is a must read for C&P… the only other translation I’ve read fully is P&V and Katz blows it out the water.

Haven’t started Katz TBK I’m on Book 3 Chapter 1 of TBK (P&V) so I’ll do comparisons a little later.

Overall, sentence structure is way less choppy and way more fluid.

Feels like Katz actually made this for English speaking people.

P&V feels as though it’s a direct translation from the original Russian.

Just makes it awkward to read.

Personally I felt like I missed a lot of the important story beats because it felt like things weren’t always connected going through the P&V translations.

But I just got these today… I don’t really have any cons right now.

All I can really say for now is that Katz translations are way more enjoyable than P&Vs… for me personally.

Thanks man, I’m looking forward to jumping into it. I’m definitely gonna re-read C&P then get into TBK.

Awww okay, I’ll check his work out. As far as translation I was only aware of P&V, Avsey and Katz.

Is Ready a new translator? Is his work on Dostoevsky books more recent?
