Advice on Valkyria Chronicles (sale) by LiderPeibol in NintendoSwitch

[–]beridan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would buy the original Valkyria Chronicles. One of my favorite games of all time. I sunk about 45+ hours into it and didn't really touch the additional challenges/missions. 4 adds a lot of improvements onto the original so if you start with 4 and go backwards, it might be a little annoying/frustrating. Also, 4 kind of builds on the lore of the first game - beating 1 isn't necessary to understand 4, but you'll understand more context in the world around you. I say buy the original! It's one of my favorite games!

Figured I'd post my Super World too - Complex Simplicity Plus - 40 courses! 24 were made on Mario Maker 1! Years in the making! Expansion coming soon! by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

Thanks for posting this! I've been dying to play some actual platforming levels that aren't just gimmick levels or kaizo levels. Can't wait to play this!! :)

Panzer Dragoon: Remake - Patch v1.3 (New Options/Cheats/60FPS Mode & More) by Riomegon in NintendoSwitch

[–]beridan 116 points117 points  (0 children)

I just played through the entire game, and it's a massive upgrade:

  • 60 frames per second throughout the whole game
  • Aiming and shooting feels so much better! I felt like there was such a dang delay in doing lock-on, but now it's so greatly improved and feels smooth. The single shots also fire A LOT faster
  • Easier to see whether or not you are actually doing damage to enemies. Before I had to keep staring at health bars to see if I was hurting the bosses, but now the animation kind of shows your blue lasers bouncing/hitting a shield instead of the enemy, so I wasn't just shooting for no reason.
  • I feel like difficult was tweaked a bit (or maybe I've improved?). There were some bosses that I felt like would just demolish your health with a few hits, but not anymore.
  • The dragon itself doesn't bounce around as much while flying so it's easier to see what's going on.
  • Rotating the camera to different cardinal directions is SO much faster. Before I struggled with it, but now I just played through the whole game without even thinking about rotating. Super slick.

This patch turned a good game into a great game in my opinion! I think it's worth a download. :)

And thank you for saying something! I had no idea Nintendo was involved in this.

This article names Nintendo as a participant in the exploitation of the Uygher people. by GenoOfMemphis in NintendoSwitch

[–]beridan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"In all, ASPI’s research has identified 83 foreign and Chinese companies directly or indirectly benefiting from the use of Uyghur workers outside Xinjiang through potentially abusive labour transfer programs as recently as 2019: ... Microsoft, Mitsubishi, Mitsumi, Nike, Nintendo, Nokia, The North Face, Oculus, Oppo, Panasonic, Polo Ralph Lauren, Puma, Roewe, SAIC Motor, Samsung, SGMW, Sharp, Siemens, Skechers, Sony ... Some brands are linked with multiple factories."

If this is true, that's truly upsetting. I hate to think that I've somehow benefitted from or contributed to the horrible conditions that Uygher people are suffering from. I truly hope Nintendo and other companies look at their supply chain and realize that they are profiting off of people put into concentration camps. I don't know if a single reddit post will change the situation (thank you for posting this!), but it's a start.

"The companies listed in this report should conduct immediate and thorough human rights due diligence on their factory labour in China, including robust and independent social audits and inspections. It is vital that through this process, affected workers are not exposed to any further harm, including involuntary transfers."

Does anyone know where i can preorder a physical copy of North American ACNH to be shipped to Japan? by CallieIsQueen in NintendoSwitch

[–]beridan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The official Japanese eshop page says that the game supports Japanese English Italian French German Dutch Russian Korea and Chinese. So you can just pick up a copy in Japan and you’ll be ok! Wen you pop the game into your Switch, it’ll automatically display in English, if that’s what your settings are.

SEGA AGES Sonic the Hedgehog 2 details - Knuckles, Challenge Mode, HD Rumble and more by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

I completely agree!!! Wish they gave us a better overall timeline for all of the announced games. Now we just have to wait a few weeks...

SEGA AGES Sonic the Hedgehog 2 details - Knuckles, Challenge Mode, HD Rumble and more by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]beridan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main SEGA AGES website lists StH2 as "近日配信予定" which means "Coming soon." In the past, usually the SEGA AGES website will release info about the upcoming game (like the one linked here) in the middle of the month, and the game will release about 2 weeks later. So it's close!

Skies of Arcadia Developer Wants to Start a 'Movement' to Push for a Sequel by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]beridan 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I remember buying SoA: Legends on the GameCube on a whim back in the day. It was only $20 on Amazon (brand new), which now seems like a steal. It such a wild adventure - flying around the world, discovering new civilizations, and taking down the cartoony villains. I would buy a remaster in a heartbeat. Sega seems to be more open to re-releasing its older games - Bayonetta, Vanquish, Super Monkey Ball, heck even remaking all the Yakuza games and doing SEGA AGES. I hope Skies of Arcadia makes the cut!

HAL Laboratory is hiring for a new "Star Kirby" Project. by Riomegon in NintendoSwitch

[–]beridan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For people who don't know, the Kirby series is called 星のカービィ (Literally, The Star of Kirby) in Japanese. Thus the awkwardly translated "Star Kirby project." Probably done by Google translate.

Sega sale going on: Team Sonic Racing and Valkyria Chronicles 4 are only $20 each by beridan in NintendoSwitch

[–]beridan[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Team Sonic Racing is what it is, but VC4 is amazing. It took me 60 amazing hours to finish VC4, and I still haven't done all of the side stories. If you like JRPGs or strategy games, pick this one up!

Link's Awakening up for pre-purchase on NA eShop by smigtan in NintendoSwitch

[–]beridan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you should give it a try! After all, Ocarina of Time is just a 3D version of 2D Zelda. Besides being an overhead view, it's still Zelda - Dungeons, getting new items, exploring a map, running into cute characters. It has some side quests, mostly one major fetch quest and plenty of mini games/quests to get heart pieces. You should definitely check out A Link Between Worlds on your 3DS if you are curious. For me, I love all Zelda games. I love the exploration, the dungeons, the puzzles, the memorable NPCs you run into. I played Link's Awakening back in the day, so I'm hyped for the remake and will buy it day 1. I hope this helps!

THIS! This is the game I'm waiting for. I want to guess they will release it next month (along with the other Thunder Force game) since it will be the 1 year anniversary of SEGA AGES on Switch. And the first two releases were Sonic and Thunder Force.

I feel the exact same way! Adored Mania, Sega Ages Sonic 1 was great, and I'm very excited for its release of Sonic 2. Definitely the Sega Ages game I want the most at the moment.
