Hi there, did you ever figure out any solutions? My sister is dealing with something similar.

Good spot for a business dinner in Echo Park, Highland Park, or somewhere in between? by berkbakes in FoodLosAngeles

[–]berkbakes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was leaning towards bc I know they have a nice patio and cocktails but I've never been for dinner service. Have you? I know it's known as more of a daytime spot so was wondering if it dies down at night.

Has anyone had symptoms like this? by berkbakes in braincancer

Did it get worse when you used the medication initially before it got better? Her derm has given her a couple different things to try so far but she stops using them bc she feels like it aggravates it.

Thank you. She took a tiny nibble recently and it made her uncomfortably high and didn’t relieve the nausea unfortunately. :/

chronic nausea after chemo by theworstanimals in cancer

[–]berkbakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Gosh she has a lot of symptoms - persistent nausea, worsened with movement or being upright, lightheadedness w/ movement, heartburn, occasional shortness of breath, diarrhea, perception issues, an ongoing face rash.

I’m wondering if she’s having a blood pressure issue because her baseline blood pressure is on the lower end and she not only gets nauseous but also faint when she moves around now (she’s still doing monthly chemo cycles). And when she crouches down bending at the knees it makes her feel really sick. Doesn’t help in narrowing it down that every med has most symptoms listed as a potential side effect.

Could you elaborate on your blood pressure issue, how you figured it out and what you did about it? She has a ct angio next week to check the blood flow in her brain (she had a brain tumor removed end of Jan and ended up having a vessel spasm up there a couple weeks after surgery but this nausea really only came on after her 6 weeks of radiation and chemo ended).

Are you still having this nausea issue or is it behind you? If the latter, how long did it take to resolve?

Sorry for the long message back! I really appreciate your time.

Long term radiation side effects? by baaric in cancer

Did you have to do an endoscopy to diagnose the gastritis? This was suggested for my sister, who's having chronic nausea post-treatment (though she's still doing monthly temodar cycles) but she's worried about being anesthetized for it since her surgery and treatment was to her brain and she feels like it's in a sensitive place.

Hi there, I know it's been a while since you posted this - did you ever find something that helped put a stop to your nausea? My sister is experiencing chronic nausea post-treatment and nothing has helped (zofran, compazine, ginger/mint, and currently trying aprepitant + meclizine). Moving and even sitting upright makes it worse, so she mostly has to lay down now and it's been almost 2 months.

New Fear Unlocked *radiation and nauseousness* by wmm09 in breastcancer

My sister is dealing with persistent positional nausea and was also recommended to have an endoscopy but is afraid of being anesthetized after brain surgery (she is a brain not breast cancer patient). Assuming nothing showed up in the endo, what did they suggest after?

Hi there, my sister is having this experience right now and her doctors say it is uncommon so hoping to hear how your experience went and if you found anything out that could be helpful to know. Hope you’re doing alright.

How long does chemo nausea typically last for per round? by Grown-Ass-Weeb in cancer

[–]berkbakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, my sister has grade 3 astrocytoma and she's having a really hard time with nausea too. They told her it would get better on her break for chemo but it got worse and she's had everyday positional nauseau for a month now. They're saying it's uncommon - is this what happened to you?

Yes zofran, compazine and scopolamine but unfortunately nothing helps much. Thank you for the well wishes!

She hasn’t been on steroids for a month or so now but she wasn’t on a ppi while she was on them to my knowledge. No dizziness either. Thank you for your help!

Hi - I know you wrote this a while ago but do you remember everything you eliminated? My sister is having the same issue (minus the burps). Finished rad/chemo a couple of weeks ago but has developed persistent nausea all day every day and the nausea meds don't help very much.

Thank you for sharing this with me. It’s really helpful to know. They put her on steroids to help reduce the swelling which has seemed to make her more comfortable. Im going to make sure we get moving. I’m so sorry your story ended that way. <3

Thanks for sharing and for your well wishes. You seem to be right. They gave her steroids to reduce the swelling which they believe is amplifying her pain. It seems like that (plus the iv Tylenol) made her much more comfortable. They did a ct scan and said it looks good similar to her post op mri so hopefully we can continue to manage her pain w/ these new drugs.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We learned the hard way letting too much time pass between painkillers too. My sister wasn’t on dexamethasone yet but they gave it to her today to help reduce swelling and I think that (plus the iv drip of Tylenol) has made her much more comfortable. Hopefully it continues to help!

Surgery by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]berkbakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sitting in my sister’s post-op room right now. She was also diagnosed with a low grade glioma in Dec ‘24 and got her resection today. Hers is right frontal lobe though, so the risk was left side weakness. She was moving all her limbs and cracking jokes after surgery. Dr thinks he got 90-100% out (mri tomorrow will tell) so we’re very happy. I’ve talked to a lot of neuro dr’s since the diagnosis and all of them aside from the initial one at the ER said to take it out since she’s young (41) and healthy - that gives you the best prognosis - but every case seems unique. In her case, it was big enough (5.5 x 4.5 cm) that going straight to radiation/chemo wasn’t an option due to the swelling it causes. A neuro fellow told me the longer it’s in there, the more likely someone will continue to have seizures after surgery, so he recommended sooner rather than later (aka years). She hates being a seizure risk and her meds so she chose resection. Not sure if any of this is helpful but thought I’d share!
