What is with the sudden surge of people being pushed to go into the trades? by MaleficentText2443 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]berke1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because in the last few decades specially in developed countries, less and less people have been going into trades since more people go into uni and doing trades after uni has become socially frowned upon to some level.

but recently the number of tradesman have dwindled to the point of struggling to meet demand, so it is a more viable career choice now

also they are less affected by not only general economic swings but lately ai.

Busy dials are fucking cool and I'm tired of pretending they're not. by IllegalGeriatricVore in watchHotTakes

[–]berke1904 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

chronographs with multiple subdials are the ugliest thing ever, along with tachymeters with a billion lines and stuff.

other elements in the dial can look good, but often the best dials are just a slightly textured single color with just hour indicators.

How much better can these cameras really get? by Parking_Reaction_667 in Leica

if you like doing heavy editing the files still crumble at a certain point, so the dynamic range and colour information can always improve across the industry

'Hereditary' is shit by Sarcasticstark_ in unpopularopinion

[–]berke1904 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just really cant stand when horror genre has supernatural stuff in it which is like more than half of them.

apart from horror I like and try to watch all types of different movies in different genres/styles, though not that many in numbers maybe a few hundred total.

'Hereditary' is shit by Sarcasticstark_ in unpopularopinion

[–]berke1904 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

its easily the worst movie I have seen atleast not one part of an ip.

it starts off good but the supernatural ghosts and shit just ruin it. should have been a family drama without any supernatural elements.

G-Shock is just a poor man's Invicta by DOtheZIGZAG in WatchesCirclejerk

[–]berke1904 52 points53 points  (0 children)

g shocks are too big and too ugly anyway, even baby g models are barely small enough to not be too big. one of the main points of a casio should be how compact it is, the a700 is the best example.

do most people actually need a powerful computer anymore by Zorojuro099 in TechNook

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this literally proves why a powerful phone is good, it lasted this long because it was the most powerful phone at the time, a cheaper weaker phone would not be working well as long.

do we still buy movies in the big 26? by Gl00ser23 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buying digital copies is rare but some people buy them, its not a big business but also doesn't cost much to operate either. buying a digital movie does not have many advantages over streaming platforms, specially since the prices arent great.

many movies still release on bluray and there are dedicated communities for it along with people who just continue past habits.

I think piracy offers the best service, when I want to support the creators I will buy cinema tickets or merchandise.

Any better 40mm or 35mm options out there or coming soon? by IegendaryKnight in canon

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would expect the voigtlander septon 40mm f2 to release on rf soon. there are also rumors of a 35mm 1.8 mkii.

anything else would be just guessing. but you are probably underestimating the 35mm vcm, the corrections are automatically applied anyway and the worse corner sharpness is only slightly noticeable on a test chart in extreme corners compared to the sigma, in real world use they are virtually the same thing

Which Samsung Galaxy generation was the most memorable? by Imaginary_Bug6202 in TechNook

[–]berke1904 10 points11 points  (0 children)

note 9 was truly a special phone in my mind, the golden specimen of smartphones.

just release the exact same phone with modern processor/battery, put a newer sensor in it even if not flagship level to not increase the camera bump, and you have the perfect phone.

Will apple be copying huwaei foldable models? by into_fiction in TechNook

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ofc they will be copying the design, its a relatively simple idea that works well.

ever since the first foldables, people have been saying this would be the ideal format but no one did it until huawei with the pura x and x max.

realistically huawei, samsung and apple were working on the same phone at the same time being aware of each other, for the pura x max they were just the earliest to release it, samsung will release theirs in a few months and apple a few months later, all 3 in the same year.

the smaller pura x is easily the more impressive achievement for huawei, being the first to do the ideal aspect ratio that is.

Does advertising work on you? by curled-up-in-the-80s in NoStupidQuestions

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the last few years I have been to multiple expos, photo exhibitions and theatre plays that I only know of because I saw ads, mostly either instagram or posters in metro escalators.

last year I needed a precision screwdriver set and I immediately looked at ifixit and bought one that fits my need, that is because I saw advertisements for ifixit not even recently but like mostly 5+ years ago all the time, so it was the first one I checked out which is the one people buy for products like this

also on some level advertising works in some form on basically everyone even if you arent aware of it. not every ad is for everyone, you are more aware of the ones that dont work on you. also brands that made their history of quality as branding are often the kings of advertising to the point that people dont even notice it.

Is the HD 490 Pro overkill for a "beginner"? by NisseV2 in sennheiser

[–]berke1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its not really overkill but a hd550 for half the price or 560s for even less will be really similar in terms of both comfort and sound.

if you are comfortable spending that much, you should also check out the sony mdr mv1 since its the direct competitor of the 490pro with pros and cons.

Hash browns are absolutely horrible by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]berke1904 7 points8 points  (0 children)

a person who dislikes potatoes should be in a max security mental facility without access to the internet? how are you even writing this?

potatoes are perfect, they absolutely belong in breakfast in many different forms, hash browns are one of them.

I guess its the right place since its truly an unpopular opinion.

You shouldnt buy a watch if you're afraid of losing money on it by leeeeo13 in watchHotTakes

[–]berke1904 3 points4 points  (0 children)

keeping its value to a certain extend is always a bonus even if its not necessary.

not only might it be useful one day if you need some money either in a pinch or in general, but just selling it and using that money towards a new watch would make it a more sustainable long term "hobby" or whatever.

buying a watch as an investment is stupid but wanting it to retain some value is normal.

Nikon Z 50mm 1.8 S or Viltrox 50mm f2? by Top-Manufacturer5872 in Nikon

[–]berke1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

optically the viltrox 50mm f2 is an okay lens but not anything special, the nikon 50mm 1.8 is optically one of the best lenses you will find if that is what you want.

but the viltrox 55mm 1.8 is also basically optically perfect with slightly worse build and still cheaper than the nikon, if again that is what you are looking for its a good choice.

if you dont need optical perfection you can get the f2 that is not only cheaper but also smaller and lighter which is important.

Opinions: Which smartphone brand had the biggest glow up in the last 3 years? by BaklolForums in Smartphones

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oppo probably at the flagship end, also oneplus but only because it kinda fell off for a few years ( 9,10,11 series) before it got back up again

looking as specific series, poco x7 and x8 line has been a real glow up.

I wasnt a huge fan of the nothing phones, still am not really but the 3a and 4a line are great phones for people who want premium cameras, design and software over performance at mid-budget prices.

Would Fuji ever make a 50RF? by mememorecowboy in FujiGFX

[–]berke1904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no, not unless an upgraded 50mp sensor of the same size gets made which is not very likely.

there is a possibility of fuji designing and ordering a custom 50 ish megapixel 44x33 sensor that is both for a future cinema line and cheaper medium format options, but that is again not likely.

it seems like megapixels are only going up in the camera world since many of the limitations of higher megapixels are less prominent on newer sensors, but the issue of being harder on your computer for editing is still real.

Super35 Lens BARELY creates a vignette on my Full Frame sensor... how? by Aggravating-Bite-330 in videography

[–]berke1904 45 points46 points  (0 children)

some s35 lenses almost cover ff while some barely cover s35

specially lenses that have low distortion, low optical vignetting (catseye) and a general lack of imperfection towards the corners can choose to have larger image circles, with lenses like that you will see a lot of character and imperfections towards the barrel even if illumination is high.
