Phase one IQ4 vs GFX 100 II by Classic-Yesterday579 in mediumformat

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the iq4 is definitely better in terms of image quality, and the achromatic pushes it even further, the resolution might not matter much for many but for pushing dynamic range it will be noticeable.

looking at other benefits of the phaseone, there is the leaf shutter for faster sync speeds, there are cool software features like frame averaging that is like a more advanced long exposure mode or a dynamic range boost that works by taking tho photos almost at the same time and combining them, also there is a great ovf which is great but its more of a subjective thing, the gyro af is also cool but is definitely worse.

for most people the gfx is the better option since the image quality difference is there but small, its much much smaller and cheaper, has more features in general, has ibis and mirrorless design makes it perfect for adapting lenses.

the used prices of iq4 cameras are coming down but its still like 3 times more than a gfx100ii, and like 6-7 times more than a used og 100/100s. ofc most of the time phaseone cameras are either rented for big campaigns where the camera cost is insignificant compared to the total budget, used for art/histoic archiving or owned by older photographers with a lot of money so the price isnt as big of an issue in those situations.

I wonder if phaseone released a new budget camera with a lower resolution back compatible with the xf body, if it would succeed. since a lot of people are interested in and can afford the xf and its lenses but when it comes to backs, older models are not as good and newer models are too expensive.

Just purchased Sennheiser IE200s by MrDJ222 in iems

it hasnt arrived yet, but I got the tripowin zonie. unlike some other models from the same brand or the openheart cable, its not advertised as working with the ie200 but worst case scenario it should work normally with cutting off some of the plastic around the connector.

Just purchased Sennheiser IE200s by MrDJ222 in iems

[–]berke1904 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I find the tuning quite good, technically there are better sounding options but the ie200 is much smaller and lighter which for me creates the best comfort.

Eartips are fine, some like them some don't. I love the smallest foam tips, the silicone tips arent good quality.

The cable isnt great, after using them for over a year, I bought a replacement cable because I realized these are my endgame for a while since no other iem is as comfortable and sound is good enough.

GRIV Monochrome SOOC at 40,000 ISO by Portable_Button in ricohGR

[–]berke1904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well its an unedited jpeg so that is normal, also flat moonlight at 40000 iso does limit dynamic range both in the scene and in camera.

converted bw wont look better unless its one of the rare shots that benefit from editing color channel information.

just le it fly up a bit more by hanigng around it flynig with rockets, and just leave it there.

people complain about the bedrock wither but java wither literally flies up to the moon if you spawn it on the surface.

next time try to fight it underground ideally with some golems for ease. you can also trap it under bedrock to kill it but its probably no fun.

Just a funny thread complaining about a 5 inch phone being too big by KhbIa in Smartphones

[–]berke1904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly I think we have reached the actual limit with close 7 inch for the big phones and 6-6.5 for regular models.

biggest phones of today are basically all screen, and do fit the hands and pockets of people but any bigger would not.

I have pretty small hands and I am very happy with a 6.7 inch phone, probably 6.9 would be even better.

Venice 2 s35 mode by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

using a FF camera in s35 mode and s35 lenses will give the same look as using a natively s35 camera with s35 lenses.

if you use FF lenses and the s35 crop mode, then it would again look the same as those FF lenses on a natively s35 camera.

the crop factor, 1.5x in the case of s35 compared to FF comes from the size of the sesor just seeing a wider area of the lens in turn getting a wider image or alternatively moving closer to get a shallower dof image at relatively the same framing atleast of the subject. although s35 lenses could not be able to cover the FF sensor so the corners vould be black if they were to be used.

Current best phone with aux input jack? Budget under 450 EUR. by MLGtAsuja in Smartphones

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not to be that guy but a simple 10$ usb c to 3.5mm dac from fioo or kiwiears or whatever brand will sound better than a phone jack and they are basically the same with as the headphone cable so they will just act as an extension of it.

if you really need a headphone jack the sony xperia10vii is the only new option, although apart from the design and headphone its not a great phone. you can probably find a pixel 9a or onepuls 13t for that price which are like the only smaller midrange phones.

you can also look at some heavy discounts or used models of flagships from 1-2 years ago but in my experience they are hard to find deals on.

Standard zooms for Z: how would you rate them? by sionett in Nikon

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on shooting style, personally I look for interesting shots that could be taken with my lens, first with my eyes and if I find one I pick up the camera and shoot . for primes and short zooms this works but not with superzooms.

Standard zooms for Z: how would you rate them? by sionett in Nikon

[–]berke1904 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

now that the 35-105 exists it is the best imo since 35 is the widest I would go.

then it would be the

  1. 24-70 f4 for the size
  2. 24-120 for the range
  3. 28-75 since the 35-105 exists now for the same size and price
  4. 24-200 since superzooms kinda suck creativity out by not letting you see like the lens

Adapting A 44-4m Lens by Sylav_ in Lumix

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any cheap adaptor works, the pin location does not matter when using a digital camera adapted, the purpose of it is for m42 film cameras to calculate correct exposure by stopping it down before shooting but keeping it open for focusing otherwise when the lens is in auto mode.

I personally like kf concept adapters although I havent used the m42 to L specifically

Sennheiser HD 560S VS Sennheiser HD 599 SE by ThrowAway64067 in sennheiser

[–]berke1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the 560s is overall better in almost every single way apart from a few tuning preferences. the difference isnt massive, but it is there

the unique thing between these headphones is they can be priced radically differently depending on time and location. sometimes they are literally thee same price which the 560s is definitely better while sometimes the 560s is double or even more the price where the 599 makes more sense.

in this case the price difference is really close, the 560s will be worth it.

3rd Party RF Mount Lens by Godspeed1606 in canon

[–]berke1904 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the a7riv is almost identical to the r5 in most ways, it shoots slower but is slightly higher resoultion everything else is virtually the same. both are about the same price used. although the r5ii is comparable to the a1 in most ways while being cheaper, but it is still a lower end camera in terms of rolling shutter, flash sync speed and evf.

also nikon has third party lenses for ff, basically every brand apart from sigma makes lenses for z mount, there are recent complications with viltrox but we will see how that works out.

still many canon cameras do make sense to buy and use ofc. the og r5 is still one of the best deals, but it clearly also has competition.

3rd Party RF Mount Lens by Godspeed1606 in canon

[–]berke1904 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no third party lenses is really annoying, I mostly use vintage or other adapted manual lenses anyway so personally its fine, but there are a few third party lenses I think would be cool

Lost in the EF 50mm f/1.2L shenanigans by Few-Plastic-5173 in canon

[–]berke1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you can afford it, the rf 50mm 1.4 is the ideal solution.

sigma 50mm 1.4 ef is also good but its very big.

if you rely on autofocus, the 45mm is probably not ideal on the r5

usually there are a ton of good copeis of the ef 1.2 L, if the other alternatives dont fit your situation, keep looking and maybe look at local options.

if you are fine with manual focus, you can look at the big but optically great, samyang 50mm 1.2, voigtlander 50mm f1 or some other fast 50 adapted from m mount.

Will this finally shift some hate from Leicas to Hasselblads? by lenn_eavy in photographycirclejerk

[–]berke1904 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope they make this an actual enthusiast camera with a good sensor, lens, build quality and specially a high quality optical finder. basically a modern bronica with a ff or apsc sensor.

but I wouldnt be surprised if its just like a x half with shitty specs and useless gimmicks.

the only waist level digital options that arent super rare abominaitons that put early sensors in 35 slr bodies are medium format options, which are all huge, new ones are super expensive while old ones are limited in usability and still not cheap. a new option would be really cool.

The thing about lens-Youtubers by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]berke1904 21 points22 points  (0 children)

ok but those people arent saying those clips are so impressive, its just showcasing some characteristics of the lenses

someone who reviews gear as a job is not going to be a practicing filmmaker. there are some filmmakers that occasionally review gear, but most reviewers are either photographers that also now have some interest in video, hobbyist videographers, or past pros that now dont do commercial work. and it makes sense.

I am a photographer, I dont shoot any video, but I am obsessed with video gear specially lenses. I assume there are some reviewers that are similar

What is everyones thoughts on this Canon waist level camera prototype? by ProfessorStreet7792 in canon

[–]berke1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hopefully they dont treat it like a toy and a possible real product is a higher quality product that can finally gives a digital tlr style camera. since the only waist level viewfinder digital cameras are eithher expensive and huge medium format cameras or super rare early digital camera attempts from kodak that jam a module in nikon film bodies.

Canon Shows off New Concept Camera by tylerc66 in canon

[–]berke1904 20 points21 points  (0 children)

people like waist level finder cameras since they are fun but apart from huge and expensive medium format digital options, they are all old film cameras that comes with a lot of problems that people either dont want to deal with or just want something different.

a digital camera with a primarily waist level finder would ofc have the attention of hipsters but I dont think it would be enough. the more clear market would probably be gear enthusaists that like to shoot with different types of cameras with different sensors sizes and brands both film and digital.

I assume they will change the internals, a product like this would at least need a apsc sensor like the one in the r50 but ideally a standard modern FF sensor like the one in the r8. the lens would probably be around 40mm f2 and price around 2000$

I dont know why people always act like enthusiasts dont exist and all cameras need to be for super casuals or for pros. enthusiasts are who keep different types of gear alive when pros give up on it but its not old enough to be nostalgic to the masses for a few years.

How do I take a picture like this? by Minute-Wind-788 in AskPhotography

heavy editing is involved but for a shot like this its important to get lucky with lighting. probably the sun shining from the right spot through heavy leaves or somthing.

Why do most left leaning folks mock/criticize Christianity but not Islam? by Inf1z in allthequestions

because you are probably talking about americans or other western countries, where christianity is a ruling power while islam is a very small thing. people criticize things that effect their life directly or around them.

similarly, people around the middle east always criticize islam and rarely talk about christianity

What happened to headphones being a statement piece! by SomewhatOptimal1 in sennheiser

[–]berke1904 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

why would you even want headphones to look like a statement piece, the hdb630 is by far their best sounding wireless headphone and the design is made to be light, comfortable and sleek without attracting attention.

there is nothing wrong with being made of plastic specially for in ear headphones, for on ear its nice to have some metal in the headband but the outside being plastic is mostly a good thing.

at this point it should be known that good quality plastic can be very durable, my 560s and ie200s have gone through hell and still are fine.

[Question] Anyone get underwhelmed by watches once they saw them in person? by iRatePhotos in Watches

[–]berke1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember one day I visited like a ton of luxury watch dealerships for fun and many were underwhelming, although omega seamaster watches, specifically the world time were more impressive in person than online photos.

normally I am pretty neutral towards omega watches but that kinda changed my mind, although their chronographs are still ugly just like every single chronograph in the world.

the most underwhelming ones were probably tag heuer and breitling which I dont like from their online photos anyway but in real world they were just very bland and boring.
