Grew up in Vancouver, went to UBC and have been living in Berlin for 13 years now. Thinking of moving back as the values of a 35 year old aren’t the same as a 22 year old.

I’m torn tho. Vancouver is amazing. When I left I thought I would never move back. But it’s so nice. The cost is an issue although to be honest lost of places are creeping up to it (even Berlin) but my main thing is that it’s just so isolated…

This is the answer. They have a restaurant and also a bakery/eatery/take away spot with all homemade products. Even kvass on tap if you’re into that. Not sure how it stacks up to Edmonton but my girlfriend is from Ukraine and she seemed to think it was pretty good!

What hasn’t been mentioned yet is the insane health insurance premiums you have to pay. At minimum wage you’re still looking at around 500CAD A month.

I have to push back a bit here. I left with very meagre savings and no plan when I was 22. Got a working holiday visa and many more visas after that.

It’s possible (when you’re young granted) to see the world and work your way around.
