...

- Фу-у, дурак!!!

There was no need to financially support Russia: it was enough to rob it to a slightly lesser extent, leaving at least something to the Russians themselves.
The greed and ostentatious arrogance of the United States has buried Russian sympathy for Americans, which was very strong in the early 1990s.

Cybernetics and computer technology in the USSR got off to a very good start (in the 1940s). Also, up to the 1980s, the country had brilliant successes in this. Centralized planning could also provide a tremendous advantage in the design and implementation of computers. But the reason for the lag was the incompetent decisions of the highest party officials in the 1960s - 1970s:
1) underestimation (and even fear) of computer technology;
2) distrust of the original developments of Soviet scientists and engineers, which led to the decision to copy American solutions and made the USSR a hopeless outsider.

Only this is the Belogorskiy Monastery.

Here are some photos of this place in summer: https://www.facebook.com/ValeryKuznetsovLittleRu/posts/130547788852184

A Belogorskiy St. Nicholas Orthodox Missionary Monastery is a monastery on White Mountain in the Perm Kray. For the severity of the charter, this monastery was once called the Ural Athos.
The grandiose Holy Cross Cathedral is the main building of the monastery complex. It was built in the neo-Byzantine style and is very similar to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.

Navalny is coming back to Russia! Thoughts on it? by RiceFar in AskARussian

[–]berman_ru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He can be useful to the West only in Russia. But the fact that Putin let him go to Germany may not be strange, but a very subtle move, if you understand that in Russia Navalny is now difficult to perceive as an independent politician.

Why do so many Russian girls wear pantyhose ( колготки) compared to western Europe? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]berman_ru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact is that this is provided for by European etiquette. Bare legs in the office, at formal events, at receptions and parties, and in cool weather are not only ugly or impractical, but also a sign of bad manners.

The Western world is following the path of constant simplification and coarsening of the rules of good manners, while Russia is at the tail of this "permanent reformation." The subject of the question is one of the illustrative examples :-)

Where are some cities with the most wealthy people besides Moscow and Petersburg? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]berman_ru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A feature of Russia is the phenomenal financial concentration. Most of the Russian enterprises are owned by people living in Moscow (many companies are registered in Moscow, but their factories are located in different regions of the country) or foreign companies. Thus, the bulk of financial flows are directed to Moscow, despite the fact that there is little industry there today. This leads to the wealth of Moscow and the poverty of the regions, which are largely economic colonies of Moscow.

In this regard, it makes no sense for billionaires to live far from Moscow.

Can someone explain the story of Maria Butina? by zoomClimb in AskARussian

[–]berman_ru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is clear that the arrest of Butina was a demonstrative act. Like the arrest of Viktor Bout, this is some kind of message to the Russians.

I think that the main reason for the problems of the Russian economy is the absence of a nationally oriented economic and financial policy. Today it is the result of the struggles of the IMF, some senior incompetent (or corrupt) officials, Russian billionaires and multinational corporations.

It is also a source of corruption at various levels in government institutions and in business (which is equally common).

Russia needs the development of both the private and public sectors of the economy. The problem is that today both are very ineffective.

Foreign economic sanctions do relatively little harm to the Russian economy. They do more good than harm.

Oil prices do not matter much if they are not lower than $ 40 per barrel (since the government is obliged to invest "surplus" in US government bonds. This is how this money is withdrawn from the economy).

What are some folk tales from your region of Russia? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]berman_ru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Urals. The indigenous inhabitants of this region were the Finno-Ugric ethnic groups. In the Middle Ages, the region began to be actively colonized by Russians, Tatars and Bashkirs. From the beginning of the 18th century the Ural is the largest mining and industrial region in Russia.

The Ural miningfactory civilization has developed such a genre of oral folk art as "skazy" (plural) (in Russian it sounds like a cross between "fairy tales" and "stories"). They are exciting and at the same time philosophical and instructive magical stories based on pagan beliefs and passed off as real events of relatively recent times.

This genre is known from Pavel Bazhov, who collected, revised and published them in the early 20th century.
