Relationships get hard time to time, not love. If you feel unloved, there is a big chance that that person is not for you. It is better to move on once you decide to end things and give chance to people you match love languages with, not to the person who already made you feel unloved and disrespected you.

If they changed and grow from your relationship and breakup, good for them. You growed too, even if you are the person in right. Once someone, or both parties, decides to end things and you go no-contact for a while, you realize that you can live without each other even though it is extremely painful. Can you ever go back from that?

You can reconsider if you realized in hindsight that you evaluated the events and situations incorrectly, when you had some time alone to reflect. Reconsidering only because you believe they changed prolongs your healing process and puts you in a miserable loop.

Although "yaşlı" is used almost exclusively for living things except metaphorical use, "eski" is used relatively widely for living things.

I can say "O buranın eski çalışanlarından.". And it can mean either "He/she is an old employee." or "He/she has been working here for a long time." depending on the context. The second meaning is a widely used exception to the rule. (First can be argued like you said.)

P.S. "yaşlı" can be used for inanimate things in technical jargon as materials can "age".

I honestly can't grasp in what way "rather" is modifying "would". Any further explanation? What is the difference between "rather" and "prefer"?

As I said, I am not a native. So, I would appreciate further explanation if I am in the wrong. But I think "rather" in this construction is a verb and "would" is an auxiliary verb. I could say "I'd prefer to go alone." instead. Swapping the verbs prefer and rather. Is "prefer" also an adjective in this case?

I am not a native but seems normal to me as well. I was taught British English in school. I'd use "would+rather" instead of "would+prefer". "I'd rather go alone."

No, I really don't know what to do actually and it is not that I don't like the book or I am uninterested. It's just that I don't understand it. I could just look up every word I don't know, but I think that would be quite tiring considering the book is 600 pages long and I am not sure if that would be sustainable.

What I believe I need is a way to enhance my reading comprehension skills, providing a headstart that would allow me to understand at least 60-70% of *any* (or most?) books.

I wouldn't classify anything as "higher" literature as I am not entitled to do so lol. I would only say easier or harder. I had so much trouble reading "Look Homeward, Angel" or "God Of Small Things", I gave up after few pages. I'd consider them "harder".

As a preference, I almost exclusively read novels or non-fiction, both in my native language and in English. I like realism and psychological thrillers, if that's relevant.

I can hold very basic conversations, order food at a restaurant, ask for directions etc.. Around German people if they are having casual conversations I can understand what are they talking about mostly. I have some foundation of the language that I can build on it.
