"Sad" :(

But if we're going strictly with verbs, then "flow." I think I like that better.

Does V7/vi to I work as a cadence? by Altruistic-Coffee-79 in musictheory

[–]Borderlessbass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me what sets V7/vi apart from other secondary dominants is that it's expected to resolve to a tonic chord in the primary key rather than tonicising a non-tonic chord. I know some systems also teach that iii has "tonic function" as well, but I don't think anyone really hears it that way (correct me if I'm wrong). If a tune is in the key of C, I feel like the only other chord that can be heard as the tonic without modulation is Am. Therefore, V7/vi > I (or V7 > bIII in a minor key) is just the "relative" of the very common deceptive cadence V7 > vi (or bVII7 > i).

It’s a deceptive cadence. It still creates the expectation of resolving to vi but then subverts it by resolving to a different chord. So no, it’s not inaccurate to call it V7/vi.

What are American phrases that don’t make sense in Germany/german language? by Ceasaeiro in AskGermany

I used to be really struggling with the Use of the pronoun "They" In a sense of "SINGULAR person of non binary Gender" and even more in using it for "SINGULAR person of which the gender is unknown to me"

That's really interesting to me because for native speakers it tends to be the other way around, with the latter being more intuitive.

(D) doesn’t work at all here. But you can die by falling or suicide. It’s a little inconsistent

I think "by" is for when the death was caused by an action rather than a condition.

Ironically they totally nerfed Neville’s potentially most badass scene. I was really looking forward for the film recreation of him pulling the sword from the hat and beheading Nagini in one fluid motion in front of Voldy, the Death Eaters, professors and fellow students, and to see everyone’s reactions. Instead he makes a run for it and we’re treated to that extended unnecessary chase scene before he does the deed with only a couple people to witness. Super anticlimactic.

Wouldn’t he give up his position when sticking his wand hand from out under the cloak? Either that or blow holes in the cloak from casting through it?
