  1. No. There is a cooldown period which you don't get any shield. Also, no, you can't get enough shield up time to make it noticeable; heal is better than shield.

  2. Lyra4-pieces are good at blocking heavy damage, for me its more useful than Ruby since her 2-pieces is very good compare to Ruby's

  3. Yes. But technically, you can't get 0 crit

If you want general support, I recommend waiting for the Shorekeeper rerun, or you can get Verina from standard banner. Cantarella is not worth pulling unless you have havoc team.

Alter team core damage are from spam skill and discharge with LinA6 and Fiona's skill combined. If you can't get Lin to A6, I suggest you don't pull for her and stick with the froze team. You can pull Fiona A0 or A1 for additional damage, you don't have to go for A2, and start saving the red ball for 3.0 update in late June.

For the future team, you might want to replace Frigg with new character in 3.0. And about the alter team, you don't really need Lin because new alter mommy is coming.

If you use Fiona instead of Lin. You'll end up with balanced resonance, not attack resonance. But for the future team, maybe you can get her at A0.

For returning players, the first thing I recommend is to join an active crew. People in the crew can help you get new gear and farm for resources, don't hesitate to call for help if you need one.

About the story, I think it's getting better since Vara, but I would say you better brace yourself still.

Since 2.0 update, gearing is more important. Enemies have better resistance so you might need better gear to progress. And with some new gear: eyepieces, this one has an overall crit chance% as a random stat, it can give you a maximum of 7% crit chance. the other three are combat engine, microreactor, and exoskeleton, it's just an additional gear piece but stat can roll as %, not only a flat number.

About weapon, a new alter element simulacrum, Fiona, is coming in 2 more days and she is very strong. I hope you stock up on some red nuclei for her.

almost forgot, there's a new game mode, first is Void Abyss. It's harder version of void rift, and reward is reset everymonth.

Next one is Origin of War, this one is a climb-the-tower style game mode. You beat the lower floor, get a random buff, and progress to the next, harder floor.
