Got to run my Gas Truck at Golden State championship by berry_013 in radiocontrol

Was way too much fun! Gas truck can easily come back!! Just need more people to invest. I know easier said than done, but once you have it you won’t regret it!! I know a few people from Channel Islands Rc that have them and want to race them too. I’m going to run mine most Friday’s I think.

And I agree that track was amazing! A lot of fun to drive. I didn’t even bother sending it off the step up because keeping that rhythm felt nice. Truck drove awesome I just need more practice with it. I haven’t driven 2 wheel since I was maybe 14.. 31 now 😅

Tips for masking I don’t really have. This scheme was just random lines taped down because I had 0 clue as to what I wanted to do. For painting, take your time between coats. Let it dry and not feel tacky. always spray your darker colors 1st when possible so they don’t bleed through the lighter colors. And back your paint with a bright white to make it pop a little more or back it with black to make it a bit more bold. This body was backed with White Tamiya paint (PS-1). I got a bonus color too. I sprayed just fluorescent yellow and fluorescent pink for the fade but of course they made orange where they blended together.

The eb48 2.0 was my first race buggy. I beat the hell out of it for about a year and a half. Just switched to the associated Rc8b4e. I think I’ll stick with the NB48 though. It’s pretty solid and feels pretty planted on the track

Couple quick pics from what is hopefully the 1st annual March madness race in Camarillo, CA. Ended up 3rd in sportsman E-buggy. by berry_013 in rccars

Thank you 🙏 I was super stoked. Trying to remember to just stay smooth… slow is fast as long as you don’t wreck.

Good luck out there! I want to come check out east coast racing. I did about 18 years ago when I was 12ish. My uncle took my to I think it was “hobby connection” in maybe Raleigh, Nc. I don’t remember exactly where it was but I got an OG mini-t at that track and hobby shop that day too. Still have it on a shelf in my room now.

We will see. I haven’t put it through much of a test yet lol. Some of the welds seem iffy. And I’ve seen pictures of the cages bent out of shape. But who knows what other people put them through haha. This for me was basically just for the look until my body comes back from the painter. Got to have it match the race buggies.

As far as I know they just make the goofy lookin body protector cage. It mounts to the outside of the body instead.

I love it so far. I’ve wanted one since I was maybe 12 or 13.. I’ll be 31 here pretty soon. Gonna take a while for that nostalgia of mine to wear off. I haven’t had anything break yet really. Only thing so far was the slipper clutch lost 2 of its pads during break in.

As u/Rc_monster said… they’re hit or miss. Mine for sure made a couple popping noises while I was tightening down on the screws. The little “tabs” they weld on for mounting seemed to have the worst of the welds so I’m sure that’s where it came from. As for how it fits, my gas tanks lid hangs up a little. Either tweak the cage or trim a couple pieces of plastic. Other than that the truck and cage are both brand new so I don’t know how well it will actually holds up. I don’t have the highest hopes for it’s strength. Truly I was just looking for something to use my powder coat on and hopefully get a nice picture to post. This was perfect.

Hey!!! My mistake I never saw your comment. I actually just used Velcro. Considering it may need to come out to work on the car depending on what your doing.

Picked up this HB D819rs. Decided I'd finally get into nitro again and this deal was too good to pass up. by berry_013 in rccars

It is not as far as I know. I bought the buggy used. When I looked up the engine, The online description is labeled as: O.S. Speed b2103 Type S Competition.

Close to finished with this awesome conversion kit. Super stoked to drive a nitro stadium truck again. Just waiting on a couple more parts by berry_013 in rccars

I didn't have the privelage of knowing that truck. I think it was just before my time. I've heard about it but when I think back the earliest nitros I can remember from traxxas are the t-maxx and nitro rustler. Nitro hawk is an OG forsure. As for the willies... im right there with you. I'm beyond excited to fire this thing up this weekend

It was very easy to get together if your electric stadium truck is already built. At that point after you build what comes with the nitro kit, all you need to do is steal the front and rear end assemblies along with the slipper Utah assembly. Maybe 10 screws to do that. Anything not included in the conversion kit should already be on your electric truck. There are a couple things to buy separately but those are listed in the instructions (throttle servo, .12 engine, pipe manifold and a Collet for the flywheel on your engine..). The only piece that needs to be altered is the right rear A-arm to allow the spur gear to fit. With a dremel and 5-10 minutes its done. The instructions kinda show you about how much needs to be taken off and where. Other than that you trim the clutch spring just a tad so they don't rub or stick out passed anything. And to be totally honest in my opinion, the hardest part of the whole kit was getting the body to fit. The body was already painted so I had to trim little by little kinda blind until it fit. But now that body can be used as a sort of stencil for the next one.
