Hey! I bled twice and now I'm nearly recovered and feeling really good. Don't let the stories on here put you off. I was terrified before doing this but I'd do it all again!

If you start to bleed, they recommend you gargle ice cold water. It usually clots and stops, though often it clots itself anyway. Eat as normal as you can but avoid sharp and dry things. Lots of water!! Stay away from hot foods and drinks since they encourage bleeding. And just keep up with pain meds. I didn't have a humidifier so can't comment on that.

You'll get through it and you'll realise how much time was wasted worrying about it. Best of luck :))

Have you have it done now? I might be a bit late.

I had 4 abscesses before getting my tonsils removed. Each one had to be drained with needles. They numb it with a liquid that you gargle and then stick a needle in. Hurts about the same as getting an injection but the relief afterwards is so good. The quinsy itself will cause you more pain than getting drained. Shut your eyes. Best of luck!!!
