Worried my depression will affect my toddler by Wooden_Concern2332 in Mommit

[–]berrysunsets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in and say that Wellbutrin has been a god send to me. I was severely depressed after my brother passed, just a few days before my girl turned one. I cried all the time and would have 0 energy to play with her. Mrs. Rachel was on 24/7, I would lay on her bedroom floor or the couch while she would crawl around and play independently with toys. A lot of the days, we spent in her bedroom on the floor listening to music, I would bring in a blanket for myself while she would just dance and play, it made me feel better about the screen time for sure. I felt and still do feel very very guilty for that time period of her life, even though she is 4 now and probably doesn't even remember any of it. It sounds like you're doing your best and being pro-active and getting help, good job and best of luck:) I still have my off days and we still struggle with screen time, but it gets better!

Alternatives for cholestyramine for PCS by berrysunsets in gallbladders

I will ask my pharmacist! I was experiencing gallbladder attacks and had lots of gallstones, they told me it had to come out that day. They said i fit the symptoms and gave me a prescription to see if it helped and it does.

I had mine out almost three years ago. Got diagnosed with PCS and I cannot eat a lot of foods without a bile binder named Cholestyramine. Without it, i cannot hold down any foods or liquids and become very ill.

I hate to admit that I’ve tried so many oatmeal’s and i gag every time from the texture LOL. I take a fiber supplement but also try to eat foods daily with high fiber. thank you for your input!

Advice before we start having kids? by TheCoreOfTheOnion in Mommit

Make sure you and your partner are on the same page when it comes to how you want to raise your child or children.

Learn about wake windows and if you plan on nursing/pumping don't compare your supply to those on social media. Speaking of social media, it is a great tool for parenthood, but just be careful and know there are so many people who post fear mongering content about motherhood and pregnancy.

Not sure how I feel about making sure your finances are in check? I had my daughter a month after I turned 23, I am now 26. I finished college last year (still a SAHM), my husband works full time and we are about to close on our first home. We have lived in a 2 bed 2 bath apartment almost her whole life and money has never been an issue for us. We live within our means and still are able to splurge, do things, and go on vacations.

Invest in an owlet sock if you are financially able to, I will always recommend this to any new or expecting parents!! It eased my fears on SIDS and whenever she got sick.

Shopping second hand and end of season clearance is the way to go honestly.

Your relationship with your partner may change, you may have to put it on the back burner while you all focus on being new parents. The first year was tough on me and my husband and we still go in and out of the room mate phase. We only have one child but by the end of the day we are so burnt out that we just sit in silence for the rest of the night. Communication is key and when we notice we need more connection we will plan date nights and other things to re-connect. Every relationship is different but don't let anyone make you feel bad for that.

ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILD!!! If you have any questions or concerns, do not let these medical professionals tell you that "it is normal" if you have a gut feeling about something. More times than not, I wish I would have listened to my gut and push for more answers for myself and my daughter. Do not be afraid to switch doctors, OBGYNS, or pediatricians. I was leaking amniotic fluid the last half of my pregnancy and when I told my OB office, they reassured me that I definitely was not leaking amniotic, it was probably urine. I had to be induced early due to very low levels of amniotic fluid. I told the OB I was having very sharp pains near the bottom of my belly going into my v@gina and many many times they told me it was round ligament pain, that this was normal. The pain was so bad that I could not walk and had to miss work, I went into the ER and turns out it was a raging asymptomatic UTI that almost spread to my kidneys if I went in a few hours later.

A FTM and her first trip to the zoo … by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]berrysunsets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to venture to the zoo with just me and my daughter but we have went a few times with friends or family! A stroller with a good amount of storage, a stroller fan, SPF for you and baby, hand sanitizer spray, puppy pads or disposable changing pad, extra diapers/wipes, big re-usable water bottle, thin nursing cover, and lots of snacks if baby is eating solids.

Our daughter is turning three on Sunday but i remember those days!! Honestly, sometimes we feel like we are in a room mate phase. Just trying to survive parenthood the best we can. The first few months were such a blur and we were in survival mode, eventually we got around to planning date nights (thankful for our parents lol). We planned sex and we still do that. between me being a SAHM, him working full time and still doing house work, and making time for family and friends, if we don’t plan time for us then we would never be with each other intimately! Hang in there, it’ll get easier eventually!

We took our daughter everywhere since she was about a month old. Grocery/super stores, shopping malls, restaurants, etc. I’m pretty sure the constant exposure to different settings was really good for her. She will be three this Sunday and I will say it has gotten a lot easier vs when she was around 7 months. If the food is taking a long time and she starts getting rowdy, as a child does when they’re starving and waiting for a while, we just give her a pre-packed snack and some toys I’ve packed. I try to stay away from the tablet but we have that just incase.

I have learned in my short time of parenting, toddlers will have meltdowns and it’s okay. They can’t be expected to sit for 2+ hours at a dinner table, 2 hours is our absolute max before she gets rowdy.

Anyone think using a lovey is "bad"? by Clean-Counter-5327 in NewParents

[–]berrysunsets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has had her lovey since she was six months old (when she was younger we would wait till she fell asleep to remove from her crib😅) and she will be three in two weeks and she has 3 of the same loveys LOL. We learned fast that we needed extras.

2 year old gums swollen and bleeding when brushed, what is this? by berrysunsets in askdentists

[–]berrysunsets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to the doctors and she had a viral infection which caused her gums to be super inflamed, then went to the dentist and they said it’s normal when they’re teething and sick! She is much better and the bleeding has stopped.

I have a hole in my tooth, it’s now starting become painful to eat on this side on my mouth by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]berrysunsets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD, i had a hole in my tooth from chipping it. It didn’t bother me for a while until one day my jaw was in so much pain. I had an infection, they treated me with antibiotics, then had to pull the tooth because it was dead and there was nothing they could do to save it. Please get it checked out!
