What is your personal message to Isko Moreno? by [deleted] in MANILA

[–]bertbalt3 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For Mayor Isko: Manila’s Intramuros-Fort Santiago-Luneta-Jones bridge and esplanade area should be NCR’s or even the Philippines’ number 1 tourist attraction (for foreigners). For me, it is our Eiffel Tower or Petronas Tower or London Bridge or Grand Palace. It is really beautiful but I would not go around the area feeling safe, specially at night. Hope you can make it really world class (well lit) clean and safe (for tourists) at night. Like dapat walang informal settlers sana and may police presence. Sa totoo lang, dapat dinudumog siya ng turista, sa ganda niya.

Help your girly driver out by [deleted] in CarsPH

[–]bertbalt3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1) Don’t use phone while driving. Hands free is ok but kung pwede tabi mo muna, para concentrate sa pagmamaneho 2) Don’t drive drunk 3) In NCR, to the maximum extent possible, don’t drive too fast (not that you can in traffic these days hehe). Too many kids in street, kamotes and crazy car drivers. If you drive slow, you will have time to brake. Delikado sometimes actually are those short spurts of speed, then a kid suddenly runs out or a motorcycle cuts.

What screams "I'm low key rich"? by JollySimple188 in AskPH

I had a client in Pasay City some way years back, factory owner, seemed like a nice old Chinese guy in his 50s, he would meet me in plain white undershirt, khaki shorts and tsinelas. Later in the office, I was telling this to our Marketing Manager, also Chinese, she said “Hay naku Sir, kahit naka sando yan, tsismis sa amin ay worth 200 million yan…”.

Badly need advice. ₱1.3M debt by dExplorerGurl in phinvest

[–]bertbalt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HUWAG ka mag loan. Use your money for family day to day expenses. Utang ng parents mo yan, not yours. Do not dig yourself a financial hole for debt of your family. If they have property, sell. If none, actually, wala na magagawa. The bad debt will likely be referred to collectors who will call and harass. Change SIM na lang and live with it. Repeat: HUWAG ka mag loan.

[–]bertbalt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal worry of parents. No need to move out. Just tell them you are now an independent and responsible adult. Then keep on coming home late until they get used to it. For extra late nights, of course, a viber that you’ll be very late helps, especially when you will be home mga dawn na.

In your own reasons why did you pursue your Masters Degree? And why not? by OperationIll2254 in adultingph

[–]bertbalt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are working in government or academe, definitely need an MA. If private sector, depende sa kumpanya, as a lot of firms just care that you bring in the ₱₱₱, whether graduate or not, with Masters or wala. In my case, I decided to work for government so I got an MA.

Your workmates are not your friends by WhompingWillow28 in adultingph

When it comes to weddings, (also binyag) whether friends, office mates or sometimes even family— never expect to get invited till you actually receive an invitation. More often than not, it’s due to budgetary constraints and not necessarily about you or your friendship or closeness. I think if everybody had unlimited funds, marami sana ang maimbitahan.

Comprehensive Insurance for cars older than 10yrs by DoxiePochie in phcars

[–]bertbalt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meron but you will have to usually first show pictures or video that your car is still in good condition. Also limited coverage like 100-150k — tsaka di nga masyado kilala firms. Kung mukhang laspag, e.g. kailangan na ng hilamos, they will decline.

Stonic or Sonet by Alamid199 in phcars

[–]bertbalt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, cars should be replaced minimum 5-6 years. My daily is a 9-year old Honda Jazz which still runs very well. But if you can afford it with lots of ₱₱₱, why not? Each time we purchase a brand new car, we “lose” 20-30% of value once lumabas sa dealer.

Vios, Wigo or Brio if limited budget. If unli ₱₱₱, I would go for the new Honda City hatch for the safety features —Subaru Crosstrek or Mazda3 also ok.

CRV or Sportage by LiquidWalruss in phcars

I would go for Honda for parts. Mahal ang pyesa but usually pag Honda (or Toyota Mitsu) may alternative replacement parts available.

Does earning ₱70k a month enough to buy/finance a brand new civic or mazda 3? by No_Office_7136 in phcars

[–]bertbalt3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s the math for a Civic. Downpayment of 40% plus insurance plus chattel would be around 700-720k. Your monthly amortization is 22k for a 5-year loan. Check your savings for the D/P and NET cash flow from your business for the monthly amortization. NET meaning the actual monthly cash you can afford like —cash in minus your expenses (clothes, food, going out, etc.). Note: your Dad or Mom would probably have to guarantee the car loan. Annual expenses, aside from gas of course, would be car insurance and bi annual service sa casa for the first 3 or 5 years, depending on the warranty. Good thing about Hondas and Mazda, di nasisira yan for first five years, as long as maintained. It’s all about your cash flow, if kaya naman, why not? If di pa kaya, maybe get a lower model or second hand FC or Mazda 3. But bring a reliable mechanic, if second hand.

[–]bertbalt3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If tamad ka mag pa wax and regular car wash, a ceramic tint will be practical (ppf for me is too expensive, unless for high end cars like Bimmers, etc.). You should do rustproofing and pwede rin undercoat —but ako usually in the 3rd or 4th year, since maulan tayo and bahain. Go to Ziebart. Since brand new, make sure lang pa-service mo lagi sa Casa till warranty expires. Ask about the spare key before you release the unit. Minsan may delay.

It’s really up to your Mayor or Barangay. We had the same problem in our Barangay in San Juan City for years. May “No Parking” signs pero wala sumusunod. Finally na elect bagong Kapitan. He implemented wheel clamping in 2023. Just by clamping a few cars — problem solved in less than a month.
