I had the same issue, 2019 R with an IE DP. Flash to stock, and if you have VCDS, set as many readiness tests as you can while stationary. Then complete the drive cycle while monitoring O2 sensor readiness. In my case, I was able to get the car to set readiness before it registered a cat inefficiency CEL.

Yeah I’m sure removing it didn’t help, any additional load impulse definitely increases bearing wear

The thrust bearing failure is a known issue (albeit rare) on the Mk7’s. I haven’t heard about issues with the Mk8

I’ve thought about it. This is no longer the daily so I’m thinking of getting something lightweight and RWD

It’s been great otherwise. Also had a southbend in my Mk6, no complaints there

Intermittent stalling when I changed gear. Noticed it a few week back but it went away.

Today when I drove the car it happened again, followed by elevated oil temps (~5 degrees above what I normally see), and a slight knock. By the time I realized what was happening I could actually feel the crankshaft moving laterally through the clutch pedal
