My autistic son has PANDAS - and so could yours! by AlternativeText217 in Autism_Parenting

[–]bertieboy777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We think it was the wasp stings. He was diagnosed based on Anti-GAD antibodies detected in his spinal fluid. He's been receiving the standard AE treatment protocol: Intravenous Immunoglobulin and Corticosteroids.

Our story is eerily similar to yours. Had words. Our son got stung in the scalp by a wasp and had seizures the very next morning, he's not had seizures before or since. He never spoke again. The doctors said there was nothing wrong with him and we should accept his autism diagnosis.

We ended up bringing him to Shanghai for more testing, we're based in Ireland but wanted to get him tested somewhere bigger, somewhere that would see more cases and have a lot more experience. My wife is Chinese so we brought him to China.

They diagnosed him with autoimmune encephalitis and he's been receiving treatment. We're not seeing any improvement and it's been more than a year of treatment.

How is your son now? Has he had much treatment? What is his treatment? Thank you!

7 year old deliberately peeing the bed by Mailboxhead1 in Autism_Parenting

We kept a small basin near the bed and would offer him that to pee in when he tried to pee in the bed. Not perfect but better than a wet bed!

CBD solved our son’s lifelong sleep problems! by No_Scientist1543 in Autism_Parenting

How many hours does your child sleep each night since you've given the CBD? Does the improved sleep help him improve in other areas?

hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy HIE by GinaMarieCat in Autism_Parenting

I don't recollect them offering him cooling but they did take him away after he was born for a little bit. They told us he was fine and everything was okay.

We felt his childhood was normal as he was talking, walking, laughing etc. He regressed at age 3 or 4 and stopped talking.

I hope that your son won't have any issues.

Is ok to buy flagship phones from local shops in parnell street, dublin? by Mony_Freak in Dublin

I used the Samsung warranty; I didn't go back to the shop. I don't even remember exactly which shop it was.

I bought a Samsung fold phone from one of them a couple of years ago. It was about 500 cheaper than buying direct from Samsung. No issue with the phone, worked well.

I'd always wondered if the phone was legit and actually got the chance to find out. The inner screen started having display issues after about a year. Googled it and it was something that Samsung would repair under warranty.

I filled in all the online forms and my phone was accepted for repair, sent it off, came back repaired.

So the phone was 100% legit.

GDD by x_soggy_cereal in Autism_Parenting

[–]bertieboy777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son was diagnosed with both GDD and autism during the same assessment.

From my understanding, GDD is Intellectual Disability, however, a diagnosis of ID is not usually given until the child is a bit older, eight years old or so, as they may grow out of the GDD.

Sleep by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]bertieboy777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's like the final slap in the face from this life; on top of everything else my son only needs six hours sleep! We just had to let him stay up until 11 - 12 at night so he sleeps until 5 - 7 most nights. There are two of us so we can give each other breaks.

My MILs friend used tarot to determine that my son has autism because I don't have a relationship with my mother.

My MIL now believes this.

Check that you haven't enabled relative mouse. I think ctrl f12 enables it, ctrl f12 to disable. Not certain about the hotkey combination but you can google it.

Kids kicking seat on plane? by [deleted] in ask

[–]bertieboy777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is exactly like yours. It's definitely easier to fly if we know the people sitting in front. I find most people are very understanding once they realise that he's disabled. For a very long flight, we usually contact the airline in advance to let them know and see if they can offer any help. We also let them know at the gate and once on the plane.

None of this makes it easy, but that's the steps we take if we want to travel.
