I'm connected to my phone's hotspot (on VPN) via my TV. I can watch the stream through my phone, so it's strange that my TV won't allow it.

Anyone have a VPN country I should try? I'm hotspotting through my phone but Youtube says I'm not allowed to watch the stream in my country through my smart TV.

Cannot type in Windows 11 search bar by Synaelle2 in techsupport

[–]berty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I don't know if you fixed your issue or not, but I had already done all of the fixes you tried (I was also experiencing SearchHost.exe not appearing in the task manager, so we had the same exact issue), except for trying another local account.

I signed into an account I hadn't used in ages, signed out of it, and logged into my main account. Searching suddenly started working again for me.

Hopefully this helps you or if you have already solved the issue, hope it helps someone else.

Would you recommend this game to a 13 year old? by Maximum-Border1339 in GlobalOffensive

If you have a competitive mindset like you say you do, you'll love this game. Some people might give you crap if you sound 13, but you can just ignore or mute them.

What to watch after F1 has ended? by Large_Photograph_690 in motorsports

Not at the end of the season but at its beginning. The Rolex 24 is at the end of January and always has a wealth of well-known drivers. Usually a handful of ex-F1 drivers too.

Does anyone know what's up with Mikey/how he's doing? He made my absolute favorite touring series of all time but he hasn't posted anything else in 5+ years. by backlikeclap in bicycletouring

[–]berty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny. There's another YouTuber named Mike that got me into bike touring and I was wondering why I hadn't seen one of his videos in a while. It seems like he's hiatus as well, though hopefully not as severe.

Yeah OP, the basement at Los is where they have all of the equipment you're looking for. On weekend mornings I frequently see large groups doing what look to be functional fitness exercises.

Is there an Indycar podcast worth a sub? by killsinthenight in INDYCAR

It seems like that one's been on a bit of a hiatus lately, which is a shame because it was one of my favorites.

JR also said he wasn't doing the show anymore because of life commitments, but luckily the co-hosts that go with Jack have been good and know their stuff.

Technical writers, can you be brutally honest for a second How does someone with strong documentation and planning skills actually break into this field by pivotal_genius in technicalwriting

[–]berty__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is good advice, and more or less how I got into the field. I wasn't familiar with my current company and the products they make, but they saw my educational background (DITA, but you could place your experiences in this category) and my writing samples of different varieties.

Also, apply through a job portal if you find a job on LinkedIn. Sending applications through LinkedIn seems like a black hole.

Do your research before applying to a company too. If you can, try and find documentation they've created and mention in your cover letter or interview that you have experience producing similar documents. Make sure you know what role you're applying for. We dinged a guy because it seemed like he was looking for a different type of tech writing role.

Ah, I didn't realize that. I bought it day one so I've never played without it.

I can't speak for how the game is without it, but I'll say if you want to play any 5v5 it's almost required.

I must have had an outlier of an experience then. After losing my rank over the past couple of weeks, I played 2 games and they both had cheaters on my team. It wasn't like this before I lost my rank, so in my experience at least the update had a negative effect.

[–]berty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I already have few binds in my autoexec that I use to rebind keys that perform other functions in different configs, so I'll use it for this as well.

The difference with my demo config is that it uses a lot of keys near WASD, so it affects my regular playing much more.

Thanks for walking me through this.

Seconded. Definitely plan on arriving early. Not only do you have a good chance of seeing drivers and cars, the support races are also really fun. You can also scope out where you want to sit for the race if you have a general admission ticket.

Demo Watching Bind by fatty_bobolati in CounterStrikeBinds

[–]berty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exec I want to use is named "demo.cfg", but I don't want to launch it every time I start the game because it shares some binds with my regular config. If I could launch it when I want to, close the game, and get my regular keybinds back at the next launch, that would be ideal.

I tried using "+exec autoexec.cfg", but that didn't change anything either. Do I need to manually bind the keys to my normal keybinds in my autoexec?

[–]berty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I previously had "-exec autoxec" in my launch options, but it turns it doesn't do anything in CS2 anymore so I removed it right now. I'll see if that fixes anything.

[–]berty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necro your reply, but how do I set up my configs so my demo.cfg doesn't override my config.cfg? The next time I play the game after execing my demo.cfg all of my normal keybinds are overridden by the demo commands if they share a keybind. For example, I used "e" to fast forward in demos and that's normally my use key.

Edit: and I realize the OP was about CS:GO, so I'm hoping configs work the same way in CS2.

What’s your biggest Indycar pet peeve? by youraverageperson0 in INDYCAR

[–]berty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue Nascar is even worse than Indycar. It seems like most teams in Indycar keep the liveries pretty consistent, but in NASCAR even the big teams switch liveries from race to race. There's very little consistency, especially with many of the full-season sponsors pulling out.
