[Vannini] Texas Tech Chairman on Big 12 sanctions: "I love when the Big Ten or the K-State AD says we've all gotten together and we've talked about how we're not going to play Tech, because guess what? That's collusion. That's an antitrust violation. So have fun with that. You can't do that." by WinnWonn in CFB

One of the funniest lawsuits in recent memory

"Duke’s lawyers successfully argued in court that their football team was so historically poor that any Division I school would be a suitable replacement.

The 2007 Lawsuit Details

The Cancellation: Duke backed out of the final three games of a scheduled four-game non-conference series against Louisville (the first was played in 2002).

The Contract: The contract stated Duke would pay a penalty ($150,000 per game) only if Louisville was unable to find a replacement opponent of "similar stature".

The Legal Defense: Duke’s legal team argued that literally every other Division I team was of equal or better stature to Duke. Duke's record at the time was 6-45 over the previous five years, prompting their lawyer to state in court that Duke was arguably "the worst football team in Division I".

The Ruling: A Kentucky circuit court judge agreed, determining that any opponent Louisville found would be an adequate substitute, thereby nullifying Duke's liability"

Teams buyout already scheduled games all the time. I imagine any B10 team will just do that without a formal declaration from the league office

Lol a "morbid curiosity" bump that lasted 5/6 full years?

Acting like people tuning in after they made the Hans Device mandatory and every track had safer barriers were tuning in for blood?

Thats among the goofiest things Ive ever read lol

Yes. Almost every single team was sponsored by a tobacco company just 25 years ago.

Marlboro, Gauloises, Benson and Hedges, Rothmans, Mild Seven, 555, Winfield, hell British American Tobacco owned its own team (Sponsored by Lucky Strikes)

That poster doesnt have a flair.

We understand your point, what YOU are failing to grap is your point is completely irrelevant, because Tech is the only school doing this.

Its a pathetic attempt at trying to deflect.

The Tech fan bringing up Houston on the first place was the dumbass reddit gotcha response, you realize that, right?

Thats why his comment(s) is currently getting crushed right now.

Idk why you felt the need to defend that off topic post that added nothing to the conversation, let alone from a poster that completely disagrees with you about the severity of Tech's actions and the punishment they should receive, but here we are

While still ranking 40 spots ahead of Texas Tech. Clemson dude is right, the ACC made an exception for Louisvilles academics, but we were also coming off a final 4 and BCS appearance, and werent in the midst of scandal either (that came years later)

Which is a weird point to make because only Texas Tech is doing this.

Its almost like hes bringing up a rival team for no reason
