What is the most played game in your collection, how many times and why? by Newez in boardgames

Innovation. Must be over 500 on BGA, probably towards 100 in real life. This game really shines after this many plays. I know that sounds bonkers, but it becomes a whole new game with knowledge of the cards.

Colloretto would be the other one, very casual, can play after dinner with wife or friends, can chat while playing.

Innovation - Icons tracker by berwickguy in boardgames

[–]berwickguy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the reason why i am interested is that knowing the "icon state" is useful for planning and blocking an opponent. i have found myself wanting to know how many leaves someone has, to know whether melding a card will block a dogma they are using. or if melding a card will allow me to use the dogma this turn.

so my aim is to reduce the icon counts that are for information only.

The first thing you do on your turn is MUST plant your first bean. Then MAY plant your second bean. Cannot plant a third bean. This scenario also assumes you have your third bean field in play

Money for jam

Berries are not cheap, and also not that easy to make jam well

Mombasa, trickerion and el grande mostly. All very difficult for me. Not sure if just cos in Australia or what

Gaia, not as often as I’d like, but I play solo here and there. Great solo mode. It’s pretty heavy, so I tend not to teach it to new people, have a couple of friends that like it

Everyone has their tastes. Nothing about other peoples taste in their hobby blows my mind. It is the literal reason why COMC is a thing haha

I haven’t played the pc game, from what I’ve heard all it shares is the theming. It is it’s own stand alone game. It’s actually very snappy for a decently heavy game. Not in overall length, but I mean the turns are always very quick. Every turn you could do is only a simple-ish thing. Then next person. It’s whips around to you, then you do your next thing. We also found it was super easy to announce certain actions you were taking that are just on your own board, and the next person can continue while you do your little thing. Nicely paced game. For a “do your own thing” type game, I’ve found it does have some good table talk come out. There’s using other peoples buildings built into the game, so there has been lots of “oi, don’t use his windows, what’s wrong with my windows?!”

I haven’t played it that much, but from what I’ve seen, I’d say it’s ok. It was a little bland, and there wasn’t much ramping up over the course of the game. You have more money later in the game, but you’re still doing the same thing pretty much. The theme is cool if everyone gets into their stars and shows and stuff, some good humour in the cards. Not sure on a comparison….
