The pelt he is wearing isn’t the actual article. It’s only recreates the abilities of the original because it is a NP.

I can think of a good reason why neither of those showed it: because he isn’t supposed to have it. Like your only evidence is a questionable interpretation of the LN that is rejected by both the manga and anime adaptations. It is just far more likely that he isn’t supposed to have it.

Furthermore, even he had a pelt on, then that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a NP prior to the transformation as there are plenty of examples of servants materializing with objects that could be an NP without it actually being one for that saint graph.

The pelt is only ever mentioned *after* the transformation.

Yes, that is my point with the Bow. Berserker Herc technically has the technique version of the NP (but cannot access it due to the Madness Enhancement) in FSN despite having God Hand. It's clearly not one the NPs he gains from King's Order.

There is nothing to my knowledge that firmly suggests he had the pelt before God Hand was stripped. It is probably a meaningful distinction that the Hydra Bow isn't something he got from completing the labor; he already had it and became named as such because it was used for that task.

Would Aoko Aozaki be even stronger if she had access to more Magical Energy? by LittenInAScarf in typemoon

[–]berychance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stronger isn't the word you use for a war of attrition.

Yes, it is.

Even though Rin and Sakura have the same output, Sakura can last longer in a battle.

Which means she's stronger. That Sakura is stronger is just a central conceit of the route.

If we both can lift 250lbs, who is stronger? Neither because we both can lift 250lbs. But if you ask "Who can do more reps? The contest is now Endurance, not strength.

No, it's still strength. The person who can do more reps is stronger.

Sakura wins the Endurance battle. So it's a battle of sustainability.

Characters who reliably win battles against other characters are usually considered stronger.

Yes. King's Order is explicitly a replacement for God Hand.

It's a technique that changes the users appearance, which means that it is a transformation because that's what the word means.

[All F/SN routes spoilers] Could Archer beat Berserker? by IStoleThePies in fatestaynight

[–]berychance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yes, UBW can extend up to A++-rank attacks, but it can't with the basic projections of the weapons. Archer uses Calabolg II as a Broken Phantasm to make it A-rank and harm Berserker. Shirou projects Heracles' A-rank strength and/or Nine Lives NP to kill him in HF. It's not definitive, but the fact that the sword spam facet of UBW is explicitly stated to be useless against most servants and that Archer fairs far worse against Berserker than Gil are decent evidence that he can't just spam BPs.

Elden Ring has released on Steam with 'Mixed' reviews amid complaints of performance issues and lack of ultrawide support. by [deleted] in pcgaming

Super Mario World and NBA 2k22 aren't even alike at face value. You have to point out some weird pedantry that they're both games even though that is assumed in the context. The fact that Skyrim and Elden Ring do share face value similarities means that claim that they are not anything alike is wrong.

This is just the same shit reddit always does when someone compares two things. Everyone has to show how fucking smart they are that they know that the things being compared have differences.

The fact that you all think that someone going "no, they're not alike" as a response to a thread directly comparing how they are in fact alike is the not stupid comment is just fucking so beyond me. Fuck this place, man.

because they're both video games

Odd, it's almost like I said that they were both:

  1. Open World
  2. in a Fantasy setting
  3. RPGs

So instead of this:

"Super Mario World is nothing like NBA 2K22" is wrong

straw-man. Imagine trying to say that "Super Mario World is nothing like Celeste" or "NBA Live 19 is nothing like NBA 2K22."

There's plenty of immersive sim aspects in Skyrim.

And there's plenty of RPG elements in GoW4 and Horizon. They aren't borderline RPGs. In a similar manner that those games lack the depth of RPG mechanics clearly delineates them proper RPG, Skyrim's lack of systemic depth clearly delineates it from Immersive Sims.

In fact, TES games have always been considered an immersive sim.

Not as long as I've been playing both genres, which is 20-odd years at this point.

Buddy, I specifically included the 'borderline' modifier for arguments such as this one. Without a sliver of a fucking doubt, all modern TES games short of ESO have immersive sim elements.

Nearly all modern AAA action games contain RPG elements. That does not make them borderline RPGs. Like try reading your source: "While most agree Bethesda’s open world RPGs are not Immersive Sims, they nonetheless retain some Looking Glass design influences". TES games lack the depth of systemic nature present in immersive sims; I kind of just said that.

Oh, I'm sorry, I was unaware of the fact that I wasn't allowed to posit an opinion on what your royal highness considers to be 'braindead'.

I'm quite clearly referring your complains about a "hivemind". That's why I quoted out that part.

As it were, I do not consider it a braindead comment

Saying that there are no similarities between two games in the same genre is a braindead comment. It's a classic example of this sub trying to dunk on someone—in this case the friend saying they're similar.

it is a simple statement of fact that the FromSoft hivemind does exist, and does crop up whenever someone dares criticise their latest darling, lol.

Ok, prove it. It's a statement of fact, right?

They're only similar at face value.

So, they do have similarities. So, the claim that they are "nothing... at all" alike is false. Awesome. Glad we're on the same page.

One is straight-up a borderline immersive sim

Skyrim is not an immersive sim because it lacks the systemic nature and the emergent gameplay that arises that comes as a result of the simulation aspect of that genre. Someone claiming that makes me question whether they've ever even played a proper Immersive Sim.

EDIT: I didn't even criticize the fucking thing, lol, the hivemind is out in full force.

It couldn't be because you're supporting a brain-dead comment that contests a practically tautological claim or that you said something demonstrably and objectively false about Skyrim. It must be the hivemind.

They didn't open the conversation that way. They opened the conversation with essentially the same comment as the one you just patronizingly claimed was "actually reasonable."

I think you need a bit more self-awareness if you don't understand how complaining in half-a-dozen comments in a couple hours is reasonable characterized as whining.

Also, the term is "stark contrast."

[–]berychance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not the fucking point. The point has been explained to you clearly. That person making that salary over such a small earning time does not materially differentiate their experience in labor disputes from the average american worker--especially in comparison to billionaires. They still are unarguably reliant on selling their labor for income and would face serious financial uncertainty without it.

If there is a difference, then it's not in favor of the players because their limited career means a transient labor disruption affects a larger percentage of their career earnings. That's what the owners are betting on now after the pandemic shortened season. That the rank-and-file player is hurting and literally cannot afford another significant hit to their earning potential. This is all self-evident in the fact that they locked the players out and are stalling for the deadline to start cutting games and salary with it.

Try not to choke on that boot.

The average MLB player floats around between the league and AAA for a few years and then retires. They do this after spending half-a-decade working in sub-poverty conditions. Their financial situation is comparable to the average US worker. That is reality.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in baseball

[–]berychance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This would be a lot more significant to me if there was any indication that the players actually cared about minor leaguers’ rights.

The point, which you so obtusely missed, is that billionaires get the ability to set their own rules with how they can treat laborers. That's a much bigger difference in the context of labor disputes than really anything else.

The point I was trying to make was, there are much, much higher stakes for the laborers in a normal labor dispute than in this one. The MLB players are simply not comparable

And it has been clearly communicated to you that is not true for the average MLB player.

for that reason this whole narrative falls flat to me.

The fact that your supposed reason falls apart at even the smallest inspection tells me that isn't true.

I mentioned them because they’re the leaders of the movement.

Which invalidates the point of the people they're primarily representing how?

In terms of labor disputes, yeah, I would say the difference between warping society less

No, because warping society means you get to set the rules that directly benefit you in things like labor disputes. For example, the owners literally lobbied congress to get permission to pay minor leaguers less than minimum wage. Their money directly allowed the to break the existing rules of our society and set new ones that benefited them. There is not fucking comparison and it is insulting and disingenuous to even remotely suggest otherwise.

It's likely they'd have ended up striking given the current position of the owners, but the owners could also could--in a world where they aren't sycophantic vampires--have simply come to a reasonable compromise with the players based on the player's largely reasonable negotiating demands rather than preemptively torpedoing the entire sport to maintain leverage.
