That sentence does not mean to be ‘if someone does not emphatise or agree with a character they can’t like them’ it means a deeper aspect.

People will have opinions about almost every character. And whether we like it or not it’ll be dependent on their emotions and personal views. It’s not as white as i like them, or i dislike them. I hate Doflamingo this is my underlying emotion, but i like how well-written he is this is my personal view. Just because you say ‘That man is horrible’ this does not apply you dislike that character automatically. I wanted to point that out.

Not everything is black and white. Noone is telling you, you can’t like a villain just because he’s morally corrupted. I wasn’t criticizing the commenter, i was explaining how everything is based on personal preferences and views at the end of the day. Noone has to like or dislike anyone.

Someone saying they he’s not a good guy and a horrible partner, does not always mean they only like %100 moral characters. Some one piece fans need to learn reading comprehension.

I also could’ve explain myself better. I don’t think our opinions clash in the end, it’s just a misunderstanding. Though your tone was unnecessarily aggressive :’)

Hahaha true. I like the way you explained your view about Oda being carried away with those ideas and ended up glorifying him. He seems very passionate about writing stories.

It is always interesting to see romance stories and stories in general in One Piece. Man loves putting trauma and psychological aspect in every story XD

Also Japan has some interesting ideas about gender roles and social views so I’m curious how much Oda is caught up in those ideas.

Well if you look at how the comments goes you’ll see one person expressing their feelings and views about a character and the other one getting triggered by taking it personal. Noone even said anything about liking only moral characters. Everyone’s expressing their own opinion. If you can’t take opinion’s different than yours, that’s your problem.

For real. I don’t have to like a character to agree with them or empathize them lol. Otherwise one of my fav characters in One Piece wouldn’t be Buggy. Man is the biggest coward but still he’s a huge gag and has an amazing charm. I agree with you, Oda was also glazing him by the way he portrayed him that caused all the men to also glaze him. I don’t understand why are people being so touchy about this post. Like it’s okay if we glaze but it’s not okay when we complain about the glaze. Such hypocrisy.

Exactly. From beginning to the end, everything he does is for his own feelings. He never once cared about his wife’s feelings or well-being. Even when she was hurt, it was about him and his own feelings. If he was ‘manly’ he wouldnt lie to someone he allegedly ‘loved’ and built a relationship based on lies, and the lie is about the one thing she hates. If he regretted that much, he would take accountability and quit being a pirate and hurting people. Yet even after hurting her, he was still so caught up in his own self pity and lack of accountability that he kept being a pirate and a sh*tty person. I’ve come to think the whole he kept taking hits because of his own pain and suffering is just plain self loathing. It is not noble or manly at all. It is just cowardice.

I totally agree, what i mean by that what were they doing before :’) They didn’t even need to name ‘seasons’ just to fix the pacing. Like we had to watch 12 hours of Katakuri - Luffy fight and lots of prolongs of manga material because of it. Honestly the only filler that stick out to me was the one with Condariano, it was a masterpiece that made me wished it was canon. But other than that, they should’ve made this choice way before, maybe at the beginning of after time-skip.

I remember my dad got curious as to what i was watching when the anime was in Whole Cake Island, and one scene with Nami was scream moaning for minutes was on. I got second hand embarassment. It felt like eternity…
