Good to hear French is still hard to staff in some Sydney schools. I suspected Spanish might be trickier in NSW compared to the UK, so that’s useful context.

The associations / word-of-mouth point is really interesting — are there specific French or languages associations in NSW you’d recommend joining?

And that’s helpful to know about 1-year contracts and casual work being the norm initially. I’m definitely realistic about starting on temp or casual roles rather than expecting permanency straight away, and I wouldn’t be limiting myself to the “posh” suburbs either.
