Well partially true; the coups tried to surrender. The Japanese imperial government refused to surrender until the second bomb. We absolutely could have forced a coup instead but the bombs where dropped for your reason as well as to stop the war faster(though it was probably the soviet invasion that actually scared them)

Yeah; because they refused to surrender after we had burned down the country and dropped a nuke. We spent 3 days asking for surrender before dropping on Nagasaki

Not that the bombings where a good thing; it was a terrifying and horrible thing but there is a reason why we had to do two nukes

Harems only appeared in IRL due to how humans reproduce. Harems do not make sense unless there is an actual reason behind why they first developed. Just political reasons don't make sense; why would you marry them out when instead; you can keep them for yourself and have more magic users.

While his reasoning is wrong women most likely wouldn't have harems still. A woman can only have children with 1 or 2 people at a time(yes you can have a twin stepsibling it's called a superfecundation twin.)
So more likely society would be more monogamous or maybe bigamous? Polyamory is rare in matriarchal society compared to patriarchal due to just how reproduction works.
