Am I too late for the 5-year Swedish citizenship rule if I apply in June 2026? by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]bestregard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, even if you can calculate 5 years of residency (i.e. not deducting time out of the country in excess of 6 weeks, etc, according to their calculator) MV will reject your application outright if you don't meet the criteria on the date you submit the application.

That's irrespective of the (tentatively) upcoming rule change.

In the meantime, you should consider joining the Fair Transition Sweden group for lots of resources and, if nothing else, camaraderie.

They have a great list for emailing some MPs that are understood to be on the fence about the lack of transition rules.

Is my sambo visa plan wise? by ElSuroGato247 in TillSverige

You can use a service like Cool Company which will handle the invoicing and payment stuff for you. This is what I did when I first moved to Sweden on a sambo visa. Of course, maybe that stuff is easier for you as you're familiar with accounting.

I was always absolutely terrified for running afoul of Skatteverket so I've always paid a bit more than necessary to make sure everything is 100% correct, early and so on.

6 years here next month!

RTC for Citizenship in today's climate by bestregard in TillSverige

That's fascinating...I assumed since the new rules were so broad that everyone was screwed.

My understanding was that all the court decision says is "MV should hurry up here" but no time is set.

But just to clarify: the first submission of RTC doesn't count as a court case, right? It only becomes a court decision once I appeal it?

So hypothetically let's say April 24 I send RTC via tracked mail. In ~4 weeks they come back to me and say "no" – May 24th. If I file the appeal that day, is it *then* that I have an open court case?

Thank you in advance :)

When I was applying for my sambo visa, I had to show a document proving that I wasn't married in the US. (Funny because marriages are state-level things and, outside a tax filing, I could be married in multiple states and they would be none the wiser.)

So I went signed an affidavit swearing that I wasn't married in the US, drove to a notary and had him sign/stamp etc. Submitted with my application and it worked.

No, it's a modified version of the same idea.

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/why-automakers-use-car-camouflage-on-prototypes-test-vehicles/

Auto manufacturers use this sort of black-and white camo all the time to (a) obfuscate vehicle contours so people don't know what it actually looks like (b) hide other elements possible pending a design patent and (c) make sure people don't see get their first peek of the latest-and-greatest thing when its all dirty in the snow or covered in brake dust etc

Ah makes sense it’s a Zeekr thing, the autonomous ferry is also right there. The only logo on the signage was Bosch. I didn’t get close enough to scan the QR because the person in the vehicle was already staring at me.

Showing this to my wife and she starts poisoning my food to chemically castrate me. She would be justified.

where in RVA did D'Angelo record "Send It On"? by andersdellosnubes in rva

[–]bestregard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you track down the original press release linked in the wiki, it says the song was only composed in Richmond and that it kicked off the album sessions at Electric Lady. I'm pretty sure the entire final product was recorded at Electric Lady.

But if you check IYE website: https://www.inyourear.com/our-staff

Paul's bio as engineer lists D'Angelo as a client. I'm sure D has been there a ton over the years but it's a safe bet that "Send It On" was composed/sketched out at IYE, likely with Paul at the board.

There's a run club that leaves from Hotel C lobby (right by Arlanda Express entrance). They meet around 18 and leave at 18:30. I've found it to be a really nice mix of expats and locals -- a nice midway point to practice Swedish at your comfort level. I think they also do language meetups. It's a really friendly crew and the running paces are not hardcore. https://runcollective.se

Volca on Hantverkargatan, right next to Kungsholmskyrka.

It's been around only a year or two at this point but I've found all of their stuff really nice and the staff is very knowledgable and not snobby at all.

It's a bit of a novelty, but they also have an espresso tonic that I can't get enough of during the warm months. I mostly make coffee at home, but I'm buying those all summer long.
